Is this the new Speedmaster?

Best looking modern Speedmaster, I'd say. I wish they would have added an adjustable clasp on the metal bracelet.

I like the fact the Hesalite bracelet is fully brushed (apart from the sides) and the Sapphire is the polished and brushed.

Yes, of course you can but Speedy won’t be certified for him. Just don’t let him pilot the ship.
You just can't space-walk your dog.

He just can't be a Mars Rover.

Something about Pluto.

the new wording is in response to people who are easily triggered.

What an utterly childish take. Unless, of course, you have evidence of this statement? Or perhaps you're an astronaut yourself, and can demonstrate the courage and strength of character that the women astronauts have done? Because it is the consideration of those women that 'triggered' the word change.

And may I suggest if you are constantly feeling emasculated and 'unmanned' by societies recognition of ALL her contributors then you didn't have much in the way of the required equipment in the first place.

Responses like this are such a turn off. It's this type of rhetoric that pull me further and further from the forums. I can enjoy my watches without participating and having to read this. Thought this topic was about a new Speedmaster model.

Well, I guess I need to speed up my timetable to get a 3750 before the used prices jump. Or, maybe it's already too late for that. 🤬

Quick micro adjustment makes a significant difference in comfort when wearing a watch all day, even if it is just one small step.

Even the 321 priced at $14K does not allow for quick adjustment without tools. They have it on some of their other clasps; they have a proven design with works well. I don't think the incremental cost of production would be prohibitive. It is quite baffling.
I agree, however it would probably make the clasp bigger which was one of the main bugbears of the 60th.

bracelet itself, I love it and it’s one of the most comfortable I’ve worn across all brands. Thankfully i wear mine looser rather than tighter so I don’t need to adjust often, if at all.

It’s funny that Archer suggests that there should be a trigger warning for those who object to the new wording, since the new wording is in response to people who are easily triggered.

Never fear, I predict that the old wording will spur a black market for the incredibly insensitive and sexist “manned” casebacks (which will be henceforth known as the MCB). We’re all holding future classics, gentlemen...oops, please excuse...gentleHUmen.

Of course, you won’t be able to buy or sell MCB’s on eBay or any other public sales forum. You will have to sell them in private away from public scrutiny, just like Adolf Hitler paintings or lawn jockies.

I think that @Iceter was trying to be droll, and @Dedalus05 may have missed it because it was too far over to the subtle side. I think. But if I’m incorrect, then his response was warranted, minus the personal insults...

If I had to guess, yes, it's probably going to be like that.

It's in accordance with the NASA style guide;

Gender-Specific Language (e.g., Manned Space Program vs. Human Space Program)
In general, all references to the space program should be non-gender-specific (e.g., human, piloted, unpiloted, robotic, as opposed to manned or unmanned). The exception to the rule is when referring to the Manned Spaceflight Center (also known as the Manned Spacecraft Center), the predecessor of Johnson Space Center in Houston, or to any other historical program name or official title that included “manned” (e.g., Associate Administrator for Manned Spaceflight)

https://history.nasa.gov/styleguide.html

where is the massive eyeroll graphic - I am going to get one of the older ones but am conflicted with it as it seems between this and their previous statement about not supporting auto racing because of environmental impact its just like groan...

I agree. The 60th bracelet clasp is so massive that any other solution is preferable.

In all my years on forums, seeing the old case back, not once have I seen anyone "triggered" by the wording. On the other hand, several people have most certainly been triggered by the change.

Just having a laugh at the controversy a word change has had. 😉 Don’t really care what it says personally but it has upset a few people....

Collectors and enthusiasts always get caught up in details like this, its like those who need the SMP that was the theatrical release bracelet vs the updated one...but in this case the manned text is period correct vs human which isn't

This is an interesting point. But assuming the new iteration of the Moonwatch is qualified by NASA for space flight (granted there is some confusion on that matter) then surely it is the current period in history that the text refers to?

Personally I am put off by the text in it's entirety if this is not the case. I don't want to wear a watch that says it is qualified for space flight if it is not, in fact, qualified. It's a pale imitation of the real thing with a text that says, "here are our laurels, rest awhile".

I know what "man" means but in the context NASA used it, didn't "manned" supposed to mean humans in general?

This is an awesome watch. Hope to be able to walk into a boutique and try it on at some point.

Despite always being a fan of moonwatch, I don’t own one. Maybe this will change soon 😀

Thank you, yes, I was being droll. Unfortunately, that type of humor is difficult for some people to grasp, even when it seems to me to not be particularly subtle. Comparing the case ack to a Hitler painting would have been a good clue for most.

Dedalus doesn’t get me. I’m fine with that.

Not sure why you quoted me, but as others have noted, this is NASA policy, so directing your questions to them would likely make more sense.

Just quoted you to continue the conversation on the subject 👍
