Is this the new Speedmaster?

I would love to see pics of the fabric strap, e.g. its clasp (believe it is deployant), whether its underside is lined with leather like the blue Snoopy strap, etc. if anyone has purchased one. Seems like most folks going for bracelet, which I get....but I do like the look of the fabric strap too. Only pics I can find of it are stock images that just show where it attaches at the lugs.

see this post to get a better view on the underside although still wrapped in plastic, maybe you can DM the member.

Thank you! Search didn't turn that up - must not have used the right terms. Anyway, thanks so much again. This is exactly what I was after.

They are lined and come with a 16mm fold-over clasp. Not sure if it is natural leather lining or some sort of a synthetic material, but it feels like plastic. The lining does not feel natural as it does on the DSOM straps. The Snoopy and 3861 cordura straps are pretty low quality. Not sure if Jean Rousseau is the supplier as these straps don't live up to their reputation.

As an update to a previous post of mine, my new 3861 came back from service last week almost exactly 5 weeks after leaving it with the AD. It was serviced at the Miami service center. They did an excellent job from what I can tell. The watch was returned without any additional scuffs or blemishes. It’s actually running even better now at slightly less than +1 second/day whereas prior to service it was averaging +2 seconds/day. All in all I’m very pleased with the service and am back to my second honeymoon.

That's great news!

Is it just me or does the milky ring on the sapphire look less pronounced on the new speedmasters?

Can't tell the difference between the two tbh. I don't think they changed part numbers did they?

I guess you’re right. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s the AD lighting or the stepped dial, the milky ring looks more acceptable to me on the 3861. I viewed it at the AD and couldn’t tell for a moment that it was the sapphire sandwich

I think it is the lighting/angle. It is there and is very prominent 🤦

I assume you are you talking about the new snoopy blue strap? I have the older black one and the quality is pretty nice. Jean Roseau made these. I'm not sure if they still make them for Omega but I like to know...
Anyone?

Bracelet is 20/15 and I believe the strap is a 20/18. I looked on omegas site and the standard still seems to be 20/18.

I thought I read that somewhere as well. I couldn’t find any on the omega site that took 16mm.
the straps that omega is selling separately for the new speedmaster is 18mm…
I couldn’t find any reference to 16.
Thanks for the info.

I remember reading 16mm also somewhere. I know there is a 16mm clasp but not a lot of straps for 20 taper 16. It's just the 2 straps for the 3861 models and 1 strap for the 1861/3 model that tapers 20 to 16.

I would like we just roll with one with the 20/18 taper. 18mm buckle is common and easier to find more strap options. I have 3 fold over buckles and half a dozen straps for them. I enjoy swapping things around on 4 omegas or whatever takes a 20mm strap. Super comfy

I'm at the big airshow in Oshkosh. Stopped by the Breitling booth to see some watches and catch up with the sales rep that's become a friend over the years. Got to talking about the speedy and how I haven't seen one here yet other than my hesalite 005 ref cir. 2018. Just then a gentleman to my left complimented mine and offered his wrist to reveal the exact same reference I was wearing. We chatted for a bit about the Speedmaster and he admitted he was not up to speed on the full history of references and movements etc. Not three minutes later a very young (18?) fellow approached us and was wearing the newest 3861 in hesalite. I couldn't help but grab a picture of this chance meeting.
Edit: didn't realize the photo came.out so crumby 🙁
