Is this the new Speedmaster?

So Omega are still promoting the old model on their social media’s and are still listing it on the website, although it’s speak to your boutique rather than buy online. Seems odd as they’ll make more money off the new ones surely?

I'm sure there are still BNIB versions of the 1861's floating around in various Omega boutiques/warehouses that need to be cleared out.

I assume the bracelets on the hesalite and sapphire versions are interchangable? Without having seen them in person, I kinda like the look of the sapphire bracelet (just a little polish), but I definitely want the hesalite. I assume it might be tough to get a standalone bracelet without already owning the corresponding watch, at least initially, but I was just curious.

I've been scrolling through this thread since the initial leaked info, but I haven't seen this answered yet. If I missed it somewhere, I apologize.

I would go for the new version.
Better caliber, more accurate, latest tech, applied logo (deal breaker imo).
And don't listen those who say the 1861 will be rare and that you will be able to get your money back.
They sold literally a ton of them over the past.
You will be long gone before they go rare.

Furthermore, unless you're a hardcore speedmaster fan collector, you probably won't purchase a 1861 now and collect a 3861 in the near future.
So go for the newest version and forget about the "investment part" on a serial speedmaster.

Once you've got your 3861, you will still be able to collect a limited edition later on which is probably better than buying a 1861 now and a 3861 later. Too redundant.

Just my 2 cents 😀

Thank you for all the replies.

This is the way I am leaning (ie new sapphire version). On the Omega website it also notes this movement has a longer service interval and that has to be a good thing. Once I go to the AD and put them both on and finally decide I’ll update you and eventually a few pics. Thanks again.

The bracelets will be available as standalone items for sale. For your choice it is best to buy hesalite on strap and buy a polished 2/4 links bracelet from sapphire model...

General rule for Omega is that eventually just about any accessory will be for sale as an after market, bracelets, straps, NATO's, clasps, buckles. They practically encourage customers to change up their watches with the accessories.

Or find someone who purchased the sapphire and wants to swap bracelets. I am contemplating this approach with my new hesalite on the way.

Thanks, everyone. That was my gut feeling, but I know some brands can be a little wonky about letting people mix and match across models. Good to know others are making similar assumptions about the bracelets being swappable.

Why the new Speedmaster is more expensive in Germany and France (7000€) as compared to other countries Switzerland(7150chf/ 6600€) or United States (7150$/5830€) ??

Congrats!! Looks awesome. One question - other than the watch what else is on the box? Enjoy. Cheers

Working outside in, there is a typical cardboard box. Then within it is a black paper box. Removing the cover reveals the black fabric box. which sits upon a compartment that includes a nicely printed photo book of Apollo history, mainly.

The fabric box is of weight, and solid, but smaller than the old box. I think it's the same box as the new Snoopy. The novelty is that there is a removable travel box within the main fabric box. There also is a soft cloth. That's it. So, no more Nato strap, magnifier, patch, medallion etc.

Thanks for sharing. I was curious but I think
The content of the new box is very disappointing without the goodies like the loupe and the straps...

Great release. Does someone knows if the 3861 bracelet will fit 1861 Speedmasters? That would be awesome 😎👍

In summary...This is all an exercise in marketing.

Agree, especially given the price increase. Would've been good to include a NATO or velcro strap and strap change tool at the significantly increased price. The loupe and medallion could've been sacrificed. Bit of a twist of the knife to ditch all the extras by Omega.
