Is this the new Speedmaster?

Honestly, if your a NASA astronaut you probably wouldn't care either way since you are no longer issued a mechanical Speedmaster for your mission and you no longer wear one during your EVA as Mission Control provides you 6 time check updates per hour during your spacewalk.

So in other words the period in history the text references is no longer relevant with regard to current and future space missions.
In summary, the text is effectively redundant anyway in terms of issues around collectability.

In summary...This is all an exercise in marketing.

Precisely👍
Just as it has always been but becoming much more cynical now👎

Totally agreed. Whether the caseback has the flight certification text or not, doesn't diminish any modern Speedmaster's desirability in my eyes.

But as TLIGuy mentioned, it certainly has cachet in the eyes of others, hence the effort Omega makes to keep that text printed on Hesalite models' casebacks.

still ripples on the subs! 👍

Anyone can confirm this? As some other renders show clearly flat black subdials.

I'd like to have the vintage one please 🥰
But it is not that easy to find one with nice patina.. or maybe I need more patience 😀

Patience is a very powerful tool.

As being late to the party I'm yet to buy a 'standard' Moonwatch.

I was fortunate to look into buying one last January just as my AD had an A11 50th available. After a few days working out if I could afford it and shuffling funds around I hit the button. My first, a 50th anniversary celebration piece to boot, the second calibre 3861 model released.

I've since continued staring down the rabbit hole 🤦 how many different shinies are out there... ooh... an ST1, wait, Tin Tin, hang on vintage... what's an Ed White... there's multiple versions the straight writing...

I'm now on the suggested 4-5 year wait list for a Snoopy 3, the third iteration of the 3861.

Will I go for one of these, yes as I think it would be a fantastic trio but I'll wait. If produced in similar numbers to the now retired calibre 1861, these will eventually be more plentiful and as such available at similar reductions as is/was the 1861.

I can only see an issue if Omega are creating something similar to the Rolex phenomenon, not limiting production per say but fixing production, creating demand. More models appear to be limited production, the new 3861s are allready out of stock in the UK... the Snoopy 3 has a huge wait list... I won't even consider asking about a 321.

Prices are increasing fast, was it only September we had an increase across the board and again now, a larger % increase only months later. This may be argued for and against but it is now becoming a more levelled playing field between 'the' brands. Prices are now also on par or above a number of vintage speedies which, if I aim for more will be the route I'll be considering.

Might be an unpopular vote, but I like the new Speedmaster, with hesalite, painted logo, step dial and thank god no fauxtina. A real „vintage inspired“ modern watch. Far better and closer to the orignal than any modern Rolex or vintage inspired Tudor. If you want the real deal, get a 321. If you want more modern functionality (antimagnetic and lume that is still visible in the dark) I would go for the new one.

I made my choice a while ago.

I agree apart from the lume. The lume is terrible on every Moonwatch and won’t be any different here. The promo lume shots have a near invisible minute hand which is normal for these.

Well any vintage 321 will have tritium or even radium lume (such as mine) both quite dead by today. Luckily the hands of mine are modern luminova replacements, so I can read the time at night. Of course in terms of watch value it would be highly beneficial to have the original hands. But I like to wear and use it, so prefer the luminova.

Not from my experience. My current version has amazing lume as long as it’s charged from either the sun or a UV flashlight 👎

Try a 2254 or Seiko monster. The speedy has very puny lume in comparison to some. If you have to stick a torch next to your bed, use that to look at the watch instead 😉

Never owned a Seiko or a 2254 but I do have a PO 2201 and the Speedy is on par with it. I normally wear a tritium based watch to bed but when I do wear my Speedy I just give it a 10-15 second shot with the UV light before bed and I can read it all night.

How come it’s available on US ONLINE Store and on waiting list in Europe?

I completed my purchase in the US. Hope it goes through!
