Is this the new Speedmaster?

Thank goodness Omega came back to reality and retained the 'manned' wording instead of the silly, awkward 'human' word.

To that I say, "Amen, and Awomen".

Wow a minty DON for everyone now! I'm glad I didn't buy that tatty Speedy for it's perfect DON last month now. This shakes up the vintage market quite a bit.
This is my question too and surprised I haven’t seen more comments and questions about it. (Or I missed them). Are we now going to see a lot of early Speedy’s with perfect DON? I am not seeing any glaring differences between the new and old versions, differences are pretty subtle from the pictures I have seen so far.

Any thoughts on value of the outgoing models? Do you think they would hold their value?

For me is the best of both worlds.

A modern mechanics with the looks of vintage speedy and fat pusher for a reasonable price.

Not a great fan of the green line but that can be fixed 😁

Btw, Should we call it speedy restomod?

Different enough from the 1861 that I'll probably get one at some point (bracelet looks like an improvement)..but I don't feel the need to rush out and grab an 1861 NIB and put it in the safe..they've been so massed produced and can get one used for a reasonable price anywhere.
I think they hold their grey market & used value, not MSRP...if that makes sense.

Grey market prices for the 1861/1863 models have increased steadily over the past year, but whether values will decrease, increase or remain stable is anyone’s guess. I think that it’s important to remember that there are millions of the 1861/1863 models out there. They are by no means rare.

Yeah I don’t think they will hold their value but neither crashed.

The models with the strap. Does that mean one of those Omega buckles or an Omega deployant? I have a feeling it's going to be just a plain buckle. It would be nice to also be able to get a deployant.

Agreed. By no means do I look at watches as an investment. Just to know it has some value if you know what I mean.

I could see them holding value where they are right now. It will depend on what happens with the pricing for the new one. From what I have seen, Omega has been trying to dial back the discounts ADs give out. If they do that, and it becomes hard to get the coaxial for under say $5500, then I could see the 1861's maintaining their $3500-$4000 status used.

Website doesn't say what kind of buckle, tang or DP. Maybe just a tang buckle like Snoopy.

Fratello states the hesalite version comes “now on a black nylon strap with a fold-over clasp.”

I'll be pretty surprised if the sapphire doesn't also come with a fold over clasp.

Something like this?

Clasp is part #025STZ007387, and yes it's very similar to that one.

Well while Omega insist on relentlessly pushing the price of the watch up and up, since a rising tide floats all boats I would expect the price of all previous models to either hold or in fact increase. I too have noticed that the former 15-25% discounts that were available at grey dealers (with warranty) have dried up in the past couple of years so it does seem that Omega are trying to control discounting. When you can't source a new Moonwatch for less than £5K/$6K then a 3570.50 or suitcase model (no I can't remember the PIC) at £3K looks awfully tempting, even after paying for a full Omega service (at that wincingly high rate) you are still saving a big chunk. The tritium and earlier models appeal to a different demographic so different price pressures apply.

But the 10k price point (sapphire version) is replete with fine watches, and even the hesalite is now comfortably more expensive than a new Seamaster.

Adding to this theme:

Close one eye, and the new 10k sapphire looks quite expensive; but close the other eye, and the $14k cal.321 now looks more reasonable
