Hi guys. I bought my first watch ever this cal.284 seamaster .. seller said all parts are originals and has been only case polished but when i went to watchmaker today he said it is a redial.. some people said dial looks like original so i just want to make sure since i spent $825 for this because i believed it looked nice condition.. any thoughts ? Also, is that crown original as well? i feel like i spent way too higher than the value of the condition..
im also adding the link!!

The script seems to slope to the right? If it is a redial, it is amongst the good redials. The minute markers and script thickness seem good. Are the lume pips too small? I don't know the reference, just talking out loud...

I dont think this is a redial. Lume seems to be original. Correct coathanger S with nice thin script. Corresponding hands which seem to be correct. No red flags here.

Why does your watchmaker think it's a redial?

Yah thats what the guys at the forum ( here in korea ) also said it looks original.. but i have no idea about vintage and stuff so i couldn’t ask him back about the reason... he just said it is a redial and its not even professional work and i got scammed with high bid. lol i was so depressed i immediately googled the same watches and i saw my logos are thiner than the others ?? Im not sure .. i can’t even tell whats the evidence of redial in this case.

May i ask whats the evidence ??
There's no evidence that would hold up in court. But you look at all the details on the dial and then try to find out if it's time period correct and correct for the model. And of course experience helps. Looking at thousends of dials during several years give you some good intuition. But still, sometimes you're wrong.. 😁

So even watchmaker can be wrong ? I was shocked because he literally treated me like i bought my first watch but scammed from ebay like a typical amatuer .. i was sad all day haha because i researched about cal.284 and if its in good condition, it could be up to $1,000 and i bought this at $825 and i thought it was okay with this condition because seller said its all original and his reputation was good. maybe i should ask back to watchmaker when i get my watch back cuz i gave him to get serviced..

Watchmakers are often wrong in their assesments of vintage watches. But again, I always keep some reservation when judging watches through the internet. I'm only looking at my phone and I dont have the watch in hand. But it would surprise me if the dial is not original. Maybe some others will chime in. Anyway, enjoy your watch!

Looks to me that the hands may have been relumed (a bit of lume outside the groove on minute hand).
I don't see any other telltales. Watchmakers are often quick to jump to conclusions, time is money.
I like the look, & would be happy with it,

So i checked to watchmaker again and he said " this is a 100% redial and not even that good work. if somebody tell u it looks original, they are just amateurs. " he was really sure about that and mentioned bout ink condition of the dial. Oh well.. 🙁

The M in OMEGA looks a little narrow and the spacing between the letters looks unusual. Very subtle....

do you have pictures of the dial straight up in daylight without the hands blocking the text?
