I would very much like to see your $1500 gold pie pan.

Of couse, here it is. If you wish I can show you the other 2 watches, too.

PS: I just had a look on ebay out of curiosity. I found some decents example of Constellation for around 1k.

LE: As some have said, have patience, avoid dealers and you won't end up paying double of what a watch is worth.

Thanks for the pic.
It does indeed seem like something of a bargain.

And the more pics of watches the better as far as I’m concerned.

Believe it or not.....that watch was up for sale on a local website for over 2 months, for 2000 usd. Price was lowered to 1800 as he had no interest.
Seller let it go for 1500 usd as I was the only one to show genuine interest and put money on the table.

As I said, forget about dealers. Decent deals are out there all the time.

This pie pan cost me 750usd a while back. It had wrong hands. I bought the correct hands (nos) for 50usd.
I serviced it and bought an Omega buckle, all together I had 1k only in the watch

👍 Look good!
The US certainly is cheaper but as I say once postage and import duties applied there’s not a massive rift in cost for anyone buying who is based in the UK.

Edited to say despite this the OPs example is still very overpriced IMO!

!

Both watches I have offered as examples for good deals are from Europe......but it is true that US has better prices generally speaking.

Pricing depends very much from a country to another. UK has higher prices than everywhere else.
If the seller is a dealer “forget about it”. They want a leg and hand together with the money they ask.

In other European countries you get a lot better deals.

I have bought 3 Omegas in the recent past.....2 Connies and 1 Seamster.
Seamaster and Connie pie pan were less than 800usd.
The last one is solid gold pie pan and it was 1500usd.

So, go ahead pay thousands of bucks if you wish....the reality is that these watches can be bought for less. You need to shop around and avoid greedy dealers.

What I pay for the Constellations I've owned is one thing, what I state as pricing guide here is another. I have never paid £1850 for a good, dog-leg pie-pan, but I can link to one for sale right now, if I wanted to. Finding the good deals in a price range a miser like me can stomach is a different game, but still members here are quick to bandy very low prices around when new, inexperienced members seek advice. Fact is, that with little experience you'll have a hard time finding those gems...

I always encourage members to seek out information and spend a lot of time doing research before seeking out a particular watch, but acknowledge that this is rare to see. Most want THE watch now and in that case we'll have to state what is a realistic price and what is a dealer seeking to catch an unwary n00b. The price stated by the OP is obviously the latter, but good pieces are available - if you look for them the right places - at the price level others have mentioned here.

Ah I took a local website as being a US based sale...
Don’t get me wrong glad to see someone buying at good prices!
Happy for a PM of the dealers within Europe who offer the same 😉
Think we all agree that the OPs is very expensive but finding the watch in OPs post at £450-550 would be a rare beast indeed in the UK... sadly.

I own a 14381 myself, I bought it around a year ago for $700 USD. Keep looking and you'll find one at a much better price.

....and are scared that if they don't get in straight away, the model they want will become the next big thing / good ones will become unavailable / prices will hit the roof / etc etc. I know, I've been there 🤦

Revitalizing an old thread. Thanks for all the advices above, and I was no longer tempted by the OG watch.
Instead, I have been trying to follow the guideline here and now I am looking at this SS Pie Pan Constellation around 1550 GBP. It sorta follows the price guideline provided @STANDY. Looking at the dials, case and movements etc, do you think this is a solid watch and a good one to purchase? And is it worth the price?

It’s a nice example, stunning dial, sharp case (we’ll ignore the slight scratch) and clean looking movement. A case back shot would be good? Price is at the upper scale, but then again you don’t find them in this condition often. It would be a yes from me.

It's from a dealer on this page. It was serviced, so that's nice. Piece is in great condition. I bought something from this dealer and it was a pleasant transaction. If you have the Money why not.👍

I can certainly vouch for the private sales here on the forum - I bought this lovely gold cap dog leg piepan about a year ago for just over £2k - still brings joy to my heart...

Nice dial and decent case.
Just remember that (since you’ve converted the price to GB£) that you need to add approx 20% import duty (VAT) if you are buying a watch from outside the EU.

I like it a lot more in your photo than in the seller's photos! Nice catch.
