Hi guys and gals just getting into collecting watches and i have a friend who has an Omega and an Orvin from the 1950's. I know that the Orvin was sold by sears and is a triple date. the Omega i have looked online and can't find anything close to it. i have traced the serial number to 1952 but the crystal is odd. both watches have not been serviced he wants 80.00 for the Orvin and 200.00 for the Omega. is that a good price? and if anyone can tell me more about the Omega that would be great. thanks omega1.jpg omega2.jpg omega 1.jpg imagejpeg_0 (10).jpg

The Omega is a reference N-6243, a US market watch.

Photos are blurry as others have said. I suspect the Omega will be a redial - but better photos, and your watchmaker and the forum will tell you more

PS the Orvin, which I thought was a typo of the popular Orvis brand, is a really nice looking piece. I don’t know anything about the brand, but I expect that you will enjoy it

Well i haven't bought either one yet and from the way its sounding i might not. What good is an 80.00 watch if in 6 months it's going to cost you 300.00 to repair? i would rather save a bit more money and check out a vintage tissot

I thought the Omega might be something special because of the shape of the crystal if you look at the second photo you can see how it matches the bezel and how its higher in the center then the sides

True, a $80 watch could become a $380 watch with service and a new strap. But a $300 watch would likely need service too. Depends on what floats your boat. The Omega, if it is one and if you get it, would IMO look great off that bracelet and onto a brown leather strap
