Agree but always thought of Porsche drivers as Omega men, Rolex wearers go for Mercedes and BMW's, right?

~~~guess I'm bucking tradition...I'm wearing a Speedy Pro and ride a GSPD
No...not boring for me.
Maybe it's just the Vintage Blue. 😎
I am almost 50 years old, have nothing to prove nor no one to impress and own my Speedy because I like it and don't care if anyone else ever notices it. (I also drive a Ford F150 daily & keep a Jeep Wrangler to evening rides with the wife and dog & vacations to the Rockies to ride the awesome trails.) Most Rolex watches do nothing for me current or vintage and the few that do appeal to me have that nasty fish eye over the date window which ruins the watch for me. I know better than to say "never", but it is much more likely that I will own another Omega instead of a Rolly. To those that love the Rolly though, rock on just don't be surprised when I am not impressed. 😉
The modern Rolex does nothing for me...but a 70's Sub is a piece of art that gets better with age.
I'm putting my money down the minute they make a 42mm Sub no-date.
Anyone say Mercedes hands?
Beautiful! What model is this? How old (I should say "what vintage")?
Especially if you just find one laying around in the garden ...
I recall reading some years ago that Rolls Royce spent 22 years discussing changing the color of the enamel in the Rolls emblem on the radiator! Was it changing from red to black, or vice versa? Don't remember. I wonder what the response would be if someone were to start a thread asking who finds Rolex "exciting"! It's funny, but so many transitory "new" designs found to be initially "exciting", are gone within a short time. Why change an icon? Omega doesn't!
I have no interest in new Rolex, more than passing interest in New Tudor, which I have considered purchasing. The 2 times I stepped up to but new Tudor, I bought old Tudor instead. For me, vinatge is where it is at. Old Rolex, Tudor, Omega, or issues Milwatches.
I would not say boring, but I do say the “newer models do not appeal me” – and it is the beefier scheme of these new models that turns me off – for me, this is where Rolex’s classic looks ended. It seems that making watches with larger cases has been one of Rolex’s main shift in their new product strategy (evident in the lineup of their traditional models like the Sub, SD, GMT, Explorer and Daytona – all of these going from a 36-40mm case range to larger 42-44mm cases). Is this an attempt to fit in with the growing trend of the large-case wrist watch fashion?? Is Rolex targeting the younger generation of Millennials with their new lineup of larger watches and fight back to recover share lost in the luxury watch search/inquires market to Omega over the last few years? – I can’t validate the data on this chart or how it may correlate to an actual sales market share, but the chart shows Omega gaining ground -at least- in the battle of “watch searches/inquires” against Rolex over the last few years. From what I gather, the folks who try to get actual sales market share say this is a very close-hold secret in Switzerland. Dunno, but Omega’s recent releases of models reviving some of their original classic models and increasing Boutique presence could present a more real threat and challenge to Rolex’s popularity and the actual market share in terms of real sales. No doubt that the Rolex brand, popularity and marketing strategy is a heavy hitter in the luxury watch industry – do you think Omega will ever surpass Rolex in terms of sales market share?
The title of the graph and the metric don't correlate.
You all know my opinion but I have softened on some of the vintage ones. But what is a "superlative chronometer" Me want it. Good marketing is my God.😁
That's a 1940s ref. 3372 bubbleback. One of my favorites! Sorry for the late reply.
