Bought a Seamaster on eBay. Looked really nice to my amateur eye. Too nice in hindsight. It’s a 1950 by the serial. On further research it’s obviously a re-dial. Few things I’m noticing now: 1) crazy Seamaster font 2) missing Swiss Made at 6 o’clock 3) how tight the Omega logo is to brand.

Oops. I’m sending it back. I had emailed the seller and he assured me it was original. Thoughts? Paid $520.

At least you realized when you got it what a POS it is. Could have been worse.
This is the cruelest "Did I do OK" thread I think I have ever seen. Even Dennis would not have been so mean 🫨

Really? Dennis's chief joy in life, besides vintage dress watches, was given erring newbies permanent sarcastic titles...

Photos from the listing below! Never held a Seamaster in person but if what I just held was an actual Seamaster count me out. Piece of junk. No way it was real minus the dial. Felt terrible in the hand. The automatic movement was incredibly noisy when moved. I had to take a look at the movement just to be sure there wasn’t an animal trapped in it. The strap was obviously a knock off. Made me appreciate my quartz Constellation (and I don’t).

Does the photo of the movement look legit? Are there Chinese knock offs of the movements? The whole watch seems fake. Wasn’t a scratch on it except for the caseback. I feel used haha!

For my own future reference is this movement a fake? Finishing seems cheap as hell. Thanks

Nothing wrong with Bumper movements. Don’t have a Omega anymore, Here is a Zenith

But you basically want a nice clean movement, That doesn’t show scratches as the caseback doesn’t really come of that often.

I believe in better learning through ridicule. You’re a much wiser watch buyer now, Mattyice. Bravo.

While "great condition" is a subjective term, the description doesn't seem purposely misleading. The buyer made a mistake by purchasing something he didn't fully understand, most likely without asking any questions, not sure why a return would be justified. The seller even offers to show the watch in person.

For the sake of good karma, you should eat this one and gracefully pay the dummy tax.
