Great video. true that one could easily be scammed as fake are getting very close from authentics.
Did the fake came with box, papers - i.e. full set ?

Nice tip with the magnet. But it will only work with Matser Co-Axial movments, right ?

We only have the watch but they’re offered as full set as well.

The magnet only works on those Master Chronometer certified watches and the ones that clearly indicate they are anti-magnetic to more than 15,000 gauss. Some Master Co-Axials included, indeed.

Great video. Did the fake have the ‘50’ that is only apparent on the lume at ten o’clock?

I am not talking about the cheap knock-offs, but the more expensive ones that are being offered as a "real Omega Seamaster 300M". We received such a high-quality fake, and compared it to an authentic Seamaster 300M.

The watch was so good, that we decided to make a video on it. As I am not an English speaker, please ignore incorrect grammar ;-).

You can find it here:

We also did some close-ups shots, which can be found here: https://www.fratellowatches.com/omega-seamaster-300m-james-bond-real-vs-fake/

A remarkable video, thank you for the education.

Hi, I recently bought a watch but am worried about its authenticity.
Based on the images, can anyone please give me a professional opinion?

Thank you

Don’t know enough about the little details to say yes or no. But on the omega website if you open an account you can retrieve the master chronometer certificate with the serial number and access code. They will help to see if it’s genuine. Also just google the serial number, if it’s a fake, there is a chance you get results as that batch will all have the same number. Finally I’ve handled a £300 fake seamaster, the bezel is sloppy with quite a bit of play and the wind is not buttery smooth like a genuine one, how does your feel?

So...Im not so proud of this story, but as I was looking for a good price on this watch, circumstances led to an accidental purchase. It is currently in the "authentication" phase at eBay. I will update this thread once I get it. For now, all I have is going are the images from the seller.

to me the fonts look too skinny, the 12 indices dont looks flush, the 12 and 3 of the bezel dont look aligned and the back of the case back is also not aligned, which makes me think he either opened it or it is fake....

Another reason to always use AD's, Boutiques, or VERY trusted sellers.

Thanks for the video RJ, I frequent your site multiple times a week and enjoy it very much.

@50Mega, based on your pics, I don’t see anything concerning. The glaring indications of most fake Seamaster 300m’s of this generation are not present on your movement.

eBay’s authentication service is generally good for modern watches, but as another poster stated, another easy way to be sure it’s the real deal is to put a magnet on the watch once it’s in your hands. If it keeps time as normal, it’s genuine (no fake Seamasters have antimagnetic resistance that I’ve ever seen). Benefit of buying a cal 8800! Also, the direction you turn the crown for a date change on a fake is wrong for all 300m’s of this generation, at least from all the fakes I’ve seen.

We focused on the dial, case and movement mainly. However, I do have closeups of the bezel as well.

Fake:

Authentic:

What about the date wheel? Does the fake one have the "special 7"?

From the pictures I posted, I wonder if the steel looks more yellow because of the lighting.
Either that or the stainless steel got tarnished somehow?

@Robert-Jan , did you all put this fake watch on a timeographer, or use a timing app on it? I'd be willing to bet it doesn't run at 25,200.

@50Mega as others have noted ebay is pretty good at catching modern fakes. They tend to err on the buyer's side, and have labelled legit pieces as fake on a few occasions I'm aware of because the authenticator didn't like something about the watch. If you still have concerns or questions if the watch gets through the authenticator though, time it. You can use a simple phone app. As far as I am aware it is still true that no modern fake has the proper co-axial beat rate. Maybe at some point in the future it will be worth copying this too but so far it hasn't been. The cal 8800 should have a bph of 25,200.
