·I assume it's a snap-back, but damned if I can find an indent for a case-knife. Can anyone assist?

·There might be a “lip” for a case knife hidden by a strap end, and wrist mung. Take the strap off and clean the perimeter of the case back with a tooth pick and you might find it.
