I've bought a handful of watches from Joma. Personally, I would never accept anything less than a correct set on a watch as iconic as a Speedmaster. In my experience, they've been ok as long as you don't ever have an issue or need to actually "talk" to them. A couple of times I've ordered items where I finally had to just cancel the order because the item never came. Each time when I called them, they were rude on the phone. But, it's hard to deny they're cheap. I had one return for a DOA and they basically called me a liar. I promptly sent it back and demanded a full refund.
My advice with Joma is to never buy anything from them for more than $1500. The risk isn't worth it. It's great for buying an Oris or a Hamilton or other watches in that range. If the price on high end watches is a big issue, look at certified preowned instead. Govberg Jewelers is worth checking out. And, they recently bought out Watchuwant. I bought a mint condition preowned limited edition Doxa from them and it's awesome.


I dont really understand how the price of the watch matters. Either you trust the seller or you don’t.

I'll offer an opinion on your question.

The deals JS offers are so good, many people are willing to risk a nominal amount of money but wouldn't risk purchasing an "expensive" watch due to JS inconsistent performance. They don't fully trust JS, but are willing to take a smaller risk to save a fair amount of coin.

Having transtioned(painfully) from commercial business to consumer business, I can tell you businesses have to define the level of adversity they are willing to accept and still remain focused on being successful. The general public has a lot of jerks. Dealing with jerks takes an inordinate amount of time. The lower the level of adversity you are willing to accept as a business(ie blocking jerks), the more likely you are going to screw a good guy.

The only way out of screwing anybody is to have a fault free warranty, and build your business model to accommodate this. Unfortunately, some(I fear most) can't afford to do that and stay in business.

.i.e the better the service, the higher the prices. "Good" customer service is never free - you can easily quantify it in terms of time and money. All other things equal. each business must decide where within that spectrum they wish to be in - cheap widgets but "you're on your own" to expensive widgets and "you're well taken care of". And theres a customer base for both ends, and everywhere in between

If you go to the lowest price ‘discount’ retailer, you would expect the service level to be worse, response time slower, product of lower quality (if buying ‘new’, then maybe it was a demo model, tags/sticker missing, packaging not perfect, scratch or dent item, previously returned item).

In the case of the OP, it sounds like the product advertised and what they thought they were paying for, did not ultimately match what they expected. I would be unhappy, and having heard this I will likely not buy from Jomashop in the future.

I haven’t bought from them, but I did take a chance on a Seamaster chronograph from Watchmaxx. All went well and I’m wearing that watch right now. I agree with others here, in that I’d probably buy something in the $1k range from Joma, but would be hesitant to go for anything higher just based on some scary customer-service stories.

Curious thing is that the times I checked Joma for two watches, both were either more expensive or at the same price than from a reputable seller. Didn't even have to face the dilemma of deciding if the risk was worth it.

IMHO all these shops can be good if you're lucky. If the watches are fine, well packaged, not faulty, etc, you save good money. In most cases they will be. But if you're unlucky and get a lemon, there is where the difference starts.

Agreed. The reason there are lots of negative posts about gray dealers is that people with bad experiences are much more likely to post about it. Either venting or a tactic to get a resolution. When you search it looks like everyone has a problem but given the volume these dealers must have it’s a tiny percent of sales otherwise they could never stay in business. I don’t have a dog in the fight I have only gone through trusted sellers or elady for all modern watches

Generally true but you’re forgetting, people on this forum are a small subset of Joma’s client base. Simply because there aren’t that many forum posts about bad Jomashop experiences (but there are quite a few) doesn’t mean there aren’t tons of dissatisfied customers out there who aren’t part of the forums, who had to deal with Jomashop’s abysmal customer service.

To me the biggest problem with Jomashop is the lack of warranty. It’s grey market so the warranty card will not be provided, and I would regard Jomashop’s supposed warranty as entirely useless. So it’s a gamble, if it works out and runs well, you’ve got a good watch at a good price. If not, you’re on your own to service and fix it.

No cards with Jomashop
Mine came with the card, not the warranty card but the one with the features, movement etc.

Joma shop never comes with dealer warranty . I have purchased 5 watches from them. all have come with dealer box papers but no
warranty card , just a Joma shop warranty. I have had good luck with all the watches from them. I have saved average of 30 percent
on all of them.

They treated me very well so I am sure I will buy from them again.

I ordered a rose gold movado that my mom liked from there and it came with a giant scratch on the sapphire crystal. When I went about trying to return it the same day I had recieved, I had been ignored. It took two weeks of my asking to finally get there attention. They then said that I damaged the Watch and they would not allow me to return it. The nerve of some people...

I ordered a 39.5 Planet Ocean on the black leather strap about 2 weeks ago. At the time the watch was not in stock and was told 4-6 weeks until delivery. To my surprise the watch arrived yesterday (Merry Christmas to me). The shipping box was in perfect condition, The wood Omega box is pristine and the watch appears to be in perfect, brand new condition with all plastics in place and all cards except for the Omega warranty card. This is my first purchase from JS and I expect to buy a Seamaster 300MC in the near future from them.

You got the wooden box? I'm mildly jealous. All I got was a lousy white box with a red bow glued to it. The watch is awesome though. Didn't buy it for the box- it's not a moonwatch.

Yep, that box is way better than mine. Same reference number watch (and the serial number matches the box, so I can't blame Joma). Laaaaame... 🙁



Oh, well. It's the grey market. I got a gem of a watch for a good price at least!



Added the bracelet later, purchased from an OB. It's nice to have both options.

That watch was never supposed to go with that box.

On the plus side, if I ever get my wife an Omega, I have a gift box to put it in...
