Unfortunate, but does not seem to rise to the level of a "horror story".

Why don't you give them a chance to fix the issue. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet.

Always wondered about Jomashop, they always seem to have a great selection. But can't deny the security of buying from an AD, IF you are able to haggle the price down.

i've hemmed and hawed on this issue - the only way i'm going to be able afford the watch i really want is to get it from joma. but there are so many horror stories that keep me second guessing the decision. even if only half of what you hear is true, that's still a 50% chance that you've spent your money poorly or kissed it goodbye...

Just buy Pre-Owned from a trusted sellers. It will cost less with no stress.

Have you reached out to @Kringkily or other trusted sellers to see if they can source it? Some have a pretty vast network.

You've waited every day? Sometimes you have to wait every year before the thing comes around. Patience is your friend in this madness!

Honestly, I didn't know you could do that. As my avatar will show you, I'm new to this.

I might try that when finances open up a little in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the advice!

This is a good recommendation. Kringkily is a very reputable seller and he's helped me track down stuff in the past.

Before I discovered this forum I bought this from Watchmaxx.com. Very reputable and a pleasurable experience.

It's been a few weeks... any word on how this one came out?

Disregard, I now see the response was a partial refund (presumably more than the $50 they initially offered).

A 50% chance??? I sure as heck do not get that impression. How would they stay in business?

Agreed. The reason there are lots of negative posts about gray dealers is that people with bad experiences are much more likely to post about it. Either venting or a tactic to get a resolution. When you search it looks like everyone has a problem but given the volume these dealers must have it’s a tiny percent of sales otherwise they could never stay in business. I don’t have a dog in the fight I have only gone through trusted sellers or elady for all modern watches

My tally for this thread is 7 buyers who had no problem with Jomashop compared with 5 who did (including the OP). Based on firsthand accounts here alone, you have better than a 50% chance, especially since some of the positives bought more than 1 watch.

I've bought a handful of watches from Joma. Personally, I would never accept anything less than a correct set on a watch as iconic as a Speedmaster. In my experience, they've been ok as long as you don't ever have an issue or need to actually "talk" to them. A couple of times I've ordered items where I finally had to just cancel the order because the item never came. Each time when I called them, they were rude on the phone. But, it's hard to deny they're cheap. I had one return for a DOA and they basically called me a liar. I promptly sent it back and demanded a full refund.
My advice with Joma is to never buy anything from them for more than $1500. The risk isn't worth it. It's great for buying an Oris or a Hamilton or other watches in that range. If the price on high end watches is a big issue, look at certified preowned instead. Govberg Jewelers is worth checking out. And, they recently bought out Watchuwant. I bought a mint condition preowned limited edition Doxa from them and it's awesome.

Have dealt with JS several times, (4 watches as I recall) and no issue but significant savings.
Would not hesitate to buy from them again.
