Horror Story With Jomashop

I bit surprised by what constitutes a horror story these days.

One man's horror story is another man's inconvenience. Perhaps he was being hyperbolic, or maybe the situation was very upsetting for him. Either way, the point is, more strikes are accumulating against this particular seller.

My Planet Ocean arrived in what appeared to be a Christmas gift box. It was white with a red ribbon built-on to the outside. Not the nice wooden box I'd seen in online reviews.

That's the box that Omega supplies for ladies' watches.

From what we've been told, the seller just told him they would look for it. How did it get separated from the watch in the first place?

I don't know how JS organizes their inventory, but at boutiques and ADs, watches are often stored separately. When I bought my first Omega, they showed me the watch that had just arrived that morning in a plastic "coffin", then pulled out the special box and full packaging as I got closer to buying. It was stored in a different part of the store.

Similar situation when I purchased a Rolex. Never saw the actual box until the purchase was almost complete.

Yeah, OP should not be wearing this watch if this transaction is truly a horror.

Me, I wouldn't categorize this as a horror story (it's easy to find much worse real-life stories with no hope of fair resolution), but it is disappointing, and would likely dissuade me from dealing with Jomashop if it is not resolved to some degree.

And as a result, AD's often give you the wrong box as well...

This is why the pictogram cards must be checked. When I buy a new Omega, or any other watch, it is my wife's duty to make sure I am getting the right box.

I'm not making any inferences about the OP here, but I work in retail and literally just had a customer yesterday post a negative review of our online products on a popular public review site titled "Worst experience of my life". This was literally because she wanted to return a product for a refund that she had delivered on the Friday and was told that the soonest a collection and full refund could be arranged was for the Monday.

So yeah; people tend to over-dramatize in many cases to try and emphasize their perspective.

Watches are separated from boxes because you'd need a huge @$$ safe if you kept the box with the watch when you store it at the end of the day.

Also, when shipping in bulk, its cheaper to express overnight insured 100 watches and then watch 100 boxes get sent via economy ground - the weight and volume is mostly box and manuals anyway - then 100 watches and 100 boxes meet at the destination.

Makes sense. Thanks

No warranty card. I did get the other cards.
Good to hear. I bought once and got no cards and a broken box

Just to give a quick update: No call backs, no email follow ups, nothing. I've emailed them and have received no answer.

So aggravating!

There may be some minor satisfaction in knowing that the karma they are creating will come back to bite them.

Maybe, but I've paid over 3k and received 75% of what I bought.

It is frustrating, maybe not a horror (as I see some were annoyed by that comment), but knowing you just dished out that amount of money and didn't receive what you bought is aggravating.

I wouldn't have used that watch unless issue resolved to my satisfaction. I'd rather sent it back to claim refund if not satisfied. Just my 2 cents....

You can't just send it back without their RMA approval. They won't take it.

Jomashop's attitude is a huge turnoff too. Imagine how different it would be it they responded to your complaint with, "You're right, we screwed up. But we will make it right. We will see if we have the correct accessories to ship you, and if not you can return the watch for a full refund." Something like that - taking ownership of their mistake - would go a long way. They seemed to dance around the problem before admitting they screwed up and offering to fix it. It's not so much what they said but how they said it.
