hello to all 😀
I am looking at this vintage longines , as always during the initial hunt I don’t get good pictures so I need advice from the OF experts . Dial looks 2 tones , minute and hour hands are different from second hand, so makes me doubt if any are replacement . Dial is original ?? No chance to get inside pics, any thoughts on the caliber or year? He says is from his grand grand father
Thanks a lot

Really bad pictures, but what I see and think is that hour and minute hands are not legit to the watch, second hand matches, Longines signature quite blurred, but seems to be original, also small second area looks good. Would be good to have the inside watch in terms of dial feet. Possibly 12.68 caliber, 1940s

No way to tell you anything definitive from these pictures.

Not enough definition. The Longines logo is correct for a 1940's watch. However, the quality of redials at that time was probably better than those done today.

You will need to examine in person.

Well I took the risk as the price was reasonable , case looks fine and dial.... hope too 😀
It’s from 1944 , steal case , caliber ...?
Now I need to wait for it and I hate buying before weekend as I need to wait longer

The caliber is a 12.68Z, dial looks original to me, minute and hour hand later replacement from late 40s or more likely early 50s
it’s got a nice radial design, and it might look much better in person but to me the question is condition. However given the 35mm size it might end up being enjoyable to wear.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, when you say hands are replacement ? It means that were replaced for other hands that don’t belong to these reference? I would like to see the same watch to know what are the hands that correspond to this reference, if anyone has it I would love to see it
Thanks to all

Yes that is correct. There is no reason why anyone would have pictures of the same reference as Longines made so many— but that watch belongs to a clear a time period with a clear style, and the hands being shown here are gold color when they should be blued steel as the seconds hand.
The original hands based on having seen scores of Longines models from the same period should be blued steel hands, probably leaf or baton hands, matching the seconds hand.

As I have another Longines from 1944 with wrong case and redial I could use the minute and hour hands for the new watch ? The pics not very good but are blue hands
Thanks Syrte

If it’s the same caliber and if the length of the hands fits the size of the dial it could be a good idea. Only your watchmaker will be able to tell you that when you get the watch.
Edit-
Just saw the picture. It might not fit as it’s a center seconds caliber. I don’t think the central hole is the same size.
Your watchmaker needs to figure it out. Worth looking into.

Yes, these hands (for 12.68z) have smaller central holes than those of 23M or 12.68N. Can not replace them
