I have been trying to find anything about this watch I can find for several days. So far I have found nothing. I was told it was in a collection from a deceased collector and that is what I have found out so far.

Legit and uncommon variation.
Should have a 4 digit number on the outside of the caseback but as this has seen some polishing it may be lost or very feint.

That is what i was thinking. I was not sure if it was real or an excellent fake. There is so little info on this model that it almost does not exist. There is more info on the wind up 17 jewel version but it is very rare to find info on that one also. I had read about the 4 digit number below the Seamaster emblem but I won't know about the 4 digits on the case back or be able to get better pics till I get it in my hands in a couple weeks. If anybody has any more info on this watch I would be very happy to get it so as to hold me over till it gets here. Thanks.

I wonder if it is a very limited run to use up parts and pieces. Guess I'll never know.

What other info are you looking for?

it’s believed to have been produced for the Canadian Railroad market but never really took off (it’s not a chronometer). It is a genuine version but they are uncommon. The hands also look correct.

I was just curious how many automatic wind with date were still in existence. Why did Omega not use the 564 which was adjusted to 5 positions? Why did Omega not pursue supplying them when there was such a demand at the time? assume they are very rare since there seems to be no record of them. Was this a prototype only or was it available to purchaes at the time? I just really wanted to learn as much about it as I could. My.
favorite type of watch is RailRoad type. They are simple and easy to read as well as of highest quality of the time. I have had my share of Ball, Accutron, Elgin, Seiko, Pulsar but I never knew Omega RailRoad watches even existed until a couple weeks ago. If they were never approved, that would explain why there so few of them to be found. Sorry for running on but I am intrigued with this thing.

Thanks I had found that that was some good reading but they didn't mention the 565 with a date so that's why I'm scratching my head

Hmm on second look, the fonts on your example don’t appear correct.
There’s recently been some redials of Seamaster ‘technical dials’ appearing on eBay. I wonder if they’ve turned their attention to the white dialed Railmaster now

I’m not messing at all. When I viewed it on a larger screen, there appears to be discrepancies in the text between the example you posted and other white dial Railmasters, making me question my earlier comment that it’s legit. The picture isn’t great but on a larger screen the text doesn’t look quite right.

The size of the Railmaster printing is smaller than the other examples I'm aware of. The dial doesn't seem to be fitting in that case properly either - appears to be a gap around the dial. Certainly raises some questions.

I don't know much about these. But the serif's look wrong. And my gut says the hands are not original. The taper on the minute hand doesn't match examples from that thread.

Well it's good enough to fool an expert twice I'm good with that I'm happy thank you
Not quite understanding- you say in a rather quippy way that you are surprised a group of experts have never seen one like this after a trickle of posts- then some who have seen more then a few thousand omegas pass through their hands start opining and you say “I’m good- don’t need to know anymore!”.
So should we assume you came here only to confirm your “feelings” that you found a rare prototype and any suggestion it may be a fake you don’t want to hear?
