Do any of you know what type of Constellation this is and with what movement? Is it solid gold or plated? I believe it was bought in Hong Kong in the late '60s

It's also the kind that requires you to take photos of the movement and inside the case back, if you want more information than @BartH so generously provided.

I think it's a 168.004. If it's a 168.010 you're lucky, because then I have a mint pie pan dial for you. 馃榿

note the strap size in the second photo. That may be a clue, given the amount of spring bar showing.

Thanks so far for the info! I don't have possession of the watch yet, but I wonder if taking it to an Omega boutique might help. The simple straight lugs don't look like many of the pictures I see..

18 vs 19mm. The 17mm is showing cleavage, but I'm unable to gauge it correctly.

I think you're right about it being an 004.
OP, Take it to the OB. At the very least, they can measure the lug width and you'll know right away if it's an 004 or 010. If you ask nicely, the tech may even take the back off to confirm all is good. After you use them, leave the store and don't let them try and service it.

Why is it bad to service it? Do they not allow you to not change certain parts? Also, is an 004 or 010 better, and which has which lug width? It also comes with a gold bracelet

BTW how can you tell it's a redial?

Come on, do a little research on your own. I gave you all the search topics.

Alright so the 004 has 18mm lugs and probably is more valuable..

Of course you do. Finding that black dial is like winning the Publisher's Clearinghouse sweepstakes.

I think 004 and 010 dials are interchangeable, but remember that 004 pie pan is a bit rounded, 010 pie pan has sharp edges.

Not quite, 004 is powered by 561 and 010 is powered by 564 quick set.

I have a feeling it's a 004 but I'll report back when I can get the watch, take it to the OB and open the case. Should be printed on the back I think
