Has Rolex ever commented on the ridiculousness of ADs?

Standard advice is to steer clear of discussions on race, politics and religion, when it comes to watches Rolex is a topic best avoided, too, just way too much non-sensical emotion on the subject.

At least it is all contained within its own subforum. Well played mods, well played indeed 😗

Here's my experience with a Rolex AD. November, 2018, walked into an AD not far from where I live (1st time btw), told the SA I was interested in the Milgauss Z-Blue. He took my information and called me the following month. I still have the Milgauss. In July of 2022, walked back into the same AD, asked for the new Sub 124060. The SA, different from the 1st, took my information and called me in January of this year with the Sub.

Maybe I'm just lucky.

I walked into a Rolex AD not far from my house in August 2021, told the SA I was interested in a Milgauss. I was told, yes we have them but they are only for people celebrating milestones. Perhaps you'd like to order an OP first? No? Maybe we can interest you in a Tudor Black Bay Bronze then? Maybe a Frederique Constant?

No thanks. Not ever gonna get my money.

Your reply is pretty toxic. You can comment without insulting people. Do you speak to people like this offline?

No, he can't. And probably not.

There was no need to bring his bias into a post about bias.

Travel a bit each year with work…do my best to walk into every empty Rolex store and ask for a Sub.

A real Bruce would ask for a SeaDweller ... Subs are for Sheila's!

I'm a much bigger fan of Audi's anyways!!

But going back to Rolex..... it's easy to get one, just jump on a plane to Tokyo and you'll find DOZENS of watch shops with everything you want, you'll just have to pay 2x the retail price which I refuse to.

The problem is that people who don't give 2 sh*TS about watches put themselves on the Rolex AD waiting list and then when they get the call, pick up the watch & walk straight over to resell it for profit!

I feel for all those beautiful pieces sitting in those cabinets without any love!!!

GMT anyone??

Rare as rocking horse poo 😗

I’ve never tried to buy a Rolex - fine watches, but just not my style. I will say, however, that when I visited a Rolex Boutique at the King Of Prussia Mall outside of Philadelphia earlier this year, it was the textbook experience that people complain about. The only watches in the store were those on display - and not available for purchase - and the sales staff was displaying some serious attitude. I wasn’t impressed and have no interest in a return visit.

Too bad you weren't celebrating a milestone. But I think Rolex will be ok without your money.

What about the kiosk dude with the fake Rolexes? He was very friendly and eager to sell!

Unfortunately, your experience seems to be all too common. Glad the AD I went to was very nice.

Does Rolex have a list of acceptable “milestones” on their website? 😁

My experience was certainly limited and anecdotal. I can’t fairly comment on the Rolex experience on a broader scale.

"I had this stupid conversation with you about not getting a taste of some veblen goods ... does that count?"

Erric, maybe you should have told them that you recently purchased your 15th Omega. Now THERE’S a milestone that would have gotten their attention. 😁

I went into a Breitling store and talked with the young salesman about 20 minutes about the Speedmaster I was wearing. I wasn't pushing the Speedmaster. He simply hadn't seen one and was asking a lot of questions.

Point is that in spite of a pleasant conversation and experience, people are not on waiting lists to buy Breitlings.

As to whether or not Rolex has ever commented on their ADs, me personally, I have never heard Rolex comment on anything, ADs or otherwise.

“I’m celebrating a milestone as I was just released from prison after serving 10 years for assault with a deadly weapon. Can I have my Sub now?”

Response: Great! Now you can go back and get your 16th.
