·That looks fantastic, great work by Simon Freese.
Thanks for all positive comments!
Yes, of course, the watch was restored by Simon Freese (and so were made those nice pictures I post here). What a great guy - some of you knew it already. It took quite some time to arrange everything, as I wanted to meet with Simon in person and also pick up the watch personally. I really appreciate that he could take my watch for service and had a patience to answer all my questions (you can imagine how PITA type of customer I must be), describe and explain everything. Very good experience all the way. Also I had a pleasure to be one of very first customers in his new workshop. 😀
BTW, for paranoiacs like me - there was no problems with radium at the airport (so it can't be THAT dangerous). 😉
So... Before:

this one was stolen from Simon's instagram 😉
Every time I try to sit down and reply to all these great comments, my wife comes in and complains about how much time I spend on OF.
... but I need a grandson first. 😉
Technically you need a kid first. Sounds like it would be good to spend a few minutes less on OF and a few minutes more with the wife 😁
how sure are you that its just few more minutes with mrs ?

Holy shit! Absolutely stunning!
Out of curiosity, what strap do you have on it? I love the box stitch.
Fantastic. Your grandfather was not screwing around when he picked out that watch.
I think I might sleep with it on if it were me... after checking out how many microsieverts the front AND back throw off
Superb, I'll bet you can't stop looking at your wrist now?
OMG what a stunning watch. And to think you were about to completely "destroy" the watch at the beginning of this thread (with well meaning but uninformed intentions). Thank God you found this forum ! Never let that one go !!!
What a fantastic, absolutely gorgeous watch. Congrats on a great result and thanks for returning here and showing the watch again, I really appreciate that 😀
Wonderful results there!
Be sure to get it properly appraised and insured if you plan to take it out of the safe and wear it. My Grandfather's 1970's Rolex was properly insured, but the mini fire-safe was not bolted down and it went missing in 2011, so also make sure you have safe storage.

I've now realised that the s/n I gave Omega last time was the case reference, not the movement reference. Accordingly I've requested another "extract from the archives" from Omega. The movement s/n dates it as manufactured 1939-43.
