Thanks for all positive comments!
Yes, of course, the watch was restored by Simon Freese (and so were made those nice pictures I post here). What a great guy - some of you knew it already. It took quite some time to arrange everything, as I wanted to meet with Simon in person and also pick up the watch personally. I really appreciate that he could take my watch for service and had a patience to answer all my questions (you can imagine how PITA type of customer I must be), describe and explain everything. Very good experience all the way. Also I had a pleasure to be one of very first customers in his new workshop. 😀
BTW, for paranoiacs like me - there was no problems with radium at the airport (so it can't be THAT dangerous). 😉

So... Before:

and after:

this one was stolen from Simon's instagram 😉
This is marvelous!!!!

Thank you for giving it a new lease on life!

Boy, I'd love one of these!

Every time I try to sit down and reply to all these great comments, my wife comes in and complains about how much time I spend on OF.

Thanks for all good words Guys! Yes, I’m happy like a child, keep checking time every 10s and measuring every activity with chronograph. I wish to give this watch to my grandson someday, but I need a grandson first. 😉

Technically you need a kid first. Sounds like it would be good to spend a few minutes less on OF and a few minutes more with the wife 😁

Again, thanks guys. I may sound like a jerk, but I'm happy and proud. 😉

Holy shit! Absolutely stunning!

Out of curiosity, what strap do you have on it? I love the box stitch.
Now that's funny, and I'm slightly embarrassed because of what I did. As new custom strap is not with me yet, I had to pick something else. This is $10 aliexpress strap I bought some time ago, and although I felt little guilty when putting Omega on it, it doesn't look that bad and cheap.

Fantastic. Your grandfather was not screwing around when he picked out that watch.
Sometimes I wonder what was the story behind picking this particular one, how often was he wearing it and if he could show it off to other people or was there nobody interested. 😀

I think I might sleep with it on if it were me... after checking out how many microsieverts the front AND back throw off
Will do for sure, and let you know about the results.

Superb, I'll bet you can't stop looking at your wrist now?
Now I even use chrono to measure how long does it take to boil the water.

OMG what a stunning watch. And to think you were about to completely "destroy" the watch at the beginning of this thread (with well meaning but uninformed intentions). Thank God you found this forum ! Never let that one go !!!
Maybe not destroy, but bad things could've happened to it if not OF, that's for sure.

What a fantastic, absolutely gorgeous watch. Congrats on a great result and thanks for returning here and showing the watch again, I really appreciate that 😀
Glad to hear/read!

Wonderful results there!

Be sure to get it properly appraised and insured if you plan to take it out of the safe and wear it. My Grandfather's 1970's Rolex was properly insured, but the mini fire-safe was not bolted down and it went missing in 2011, so also make sure you have safe storage.
Something to consider, but this ain't straightforward as far as I know.

Technically you need a kid first. Sounds like it would be good to spend a few minutes less on OF and a few minutes more with the wife 😁
lol, good point!
But I've got kids already, they also don't let me spend too much time here. 🤨

Just thought I’d come over here on my continuing four year post/farming quest to finally post a WTB.

Stand and applaud #176!

(Just KIDDING!).

Seriously, I thought this thread, the story behind it, and the watch itself deserved a bump. I love a two register chrono, if I were to have a focused collection, these would probably be it. This one is spectacular!

Hello again. I'm also on my post/farming quest, so another bump. 😉

Some time ago I tried to get an extract for this watch, but Omega refused to send me one.

Fellow member gave me an idea in his thread:
I've now realised that the s/n I gave Omega last time was the case reference, not the movement reference. Accordingly I've requested another "extract from the archives" from Omega. The movement s/n dates it as manufactured 1939-43.
Although it was not exactly the same issue, I've made some further searching/reading and found other posts saying that sometimes it can be the case reference that does not fit - not necessarily because it's wrong, but just missing or taken as ref number.
Little nervous about losing 120 bucks (hello new T&C), I pulled the trigger and placed another order. This time I provided only movement number and attached pictures.

And two weeks later a got a late Christmas present 😁

(yes, extract number is altered, because I'm crazy about disclosing any numbers 🤨 😁)

I have been told that Grandpa got the watch in England, but he's been in Switzerland too, so that still fits. And the watch is as Swiss as it can get. ; )

Cheers!

Just remembered this piece and haven been looking for any 33.3 but haven’t found anything similar. Documentation makes it that much more sweet. Congrats
