Wait a sec, so I got a coke 16710 incoming - I can go to an AD and have the insert swapped out for a Pepsi for $75?

In theory, Rolex USA seem kinky about selling them directly to end users...unlike in Europe where they are more accommodating. Quite often in the US they will only swap coke for Coke for example...

Rsc in Beverley Hills will with a service...without.....no clue....I chose not to swap but I know they asked...I don't think local ADs in San Diego will swap/sell you inserts.

They're $75 with service and they keep the old one. If you're patient, you can find them for ~$100 on various forums.

What an iconic look! 🥰

The bezel / insert removal and reinstall was quick and easy too!

Nice! Frequent changing of the inserts can flatten out the aluminum a little and may be harder to pop into the bezel over time.

RSC in Singapore do 1 for 1 replacement for insert, without need for service.

eBay in the end...worked out cheaper than TRF and I had a bit of a time crunch as we were going on vacation and clearly the Pepsi insert was an essential accompaniment. 😎

Walked into local Rolex AD asked about a new Pepsi insert for my 16700 , As I don't like the faded insert look ( I just don't get it) . No problem leave it with us said the sales assistant, & half hour later a new insert was fitted & old insert handed back to me .The insert including fitting cost £75.00 .

Wow, RSC allowed you to keep the old insert? Do you mind sharing your location? Thanks.

I must admit tried at least a dozen ADs , & either they wouldn't even consider supplying or fitting a new insert without the watch being serviced or keeping the insert I already had in the watch . So happened to come across a fantastic AD in the West Midlands UK and as on my original post they couldn't have been more helpful . I also asked about replacement bracelet and end links which they would also supply either separately or together . I would also like to correct my original post ,the insert cost £65.00 supplied & fitted in January 17.

There used to be an earlier post where I questioned about different patina for dial and hands. Another watch sold by a reputable dealer, a 16710 also in year 1991 have the exact same characteristic.

He explained that the hands are tritium and original and do not glow. They are tiny bit lighter, but not luminova.

So just want to share that difference in patina does not definitely mean that the part could be replacement. There's more to it that makes vintage Rolex so endearing.

To clarify, the similar characteristics ie a more creamy patina on dial and lighter patina on hands.
