Fractured ankle+too much time=strange eBay findings

So by the title, I fractured my ankle two days ago and have now way to much time on my hands. I dug deep into eBay last night and found this rather interesting put together Speedy valjoux bastard.

By the description of the eBay add the seller is open about it that he put this thing together from a variety of parts from the 70's.

I kind of like the over all look of that ..."thing" ... too sad that the minute sub register hand seems to have an alignment issue and that the seller is asking 2,5k€ for this. Otherwise I may have snagged this just for curiosity's sake.

Anyways,
Kind of interested what other OFer's think about that kind of creation.

Cheers,

Max

It looks to be in okay condition for a cobbled together chronograph, but for that kind of money I would want to have an actual Landeron movement in the case. And I don't even like Landeron movements.

Sorry to hear about your ankle. If you have too much time on your hands, I have some Omega watch-finding activities for you 😀

My first child is what propelled me back into collecting.

Thanks for the kind words guys 😉.
Congrats @watchknut !

Haha shoot it @dan7800 maybe I can digg something up 😉.

Yeah mechanics aside, I just find the over all looks with the Bakelite bezel interesting!

Are there actual produced watches with the speedmaster cases out there? Like we see with all the poor man Heuers?

I love this HF case with internal & external bezel.

I currently have one NOS like that I am planning to use for a mod with a speedy dial and silver snoopy hands.
I'll post when it's done`!

Thanks for the links! Very cool watches, this would make a fun project maybe some day! Good luck with your build!

He'd rather not talk about it, but let's just say he may not be visiting the forum for 6-10 years (3 with good behavior 😝)

Forget the watch...how did you break your ankle?

Friends suggested that we should go bouldering on a Friday night instead of heaving the usual trip to the bar ... yeah well... I slipped and fell about two feet, ridiculous hight .... but landed vertically on the tip of my left foot and it decided to not like that very much and bend inwards in a rather unpleasant angle .... same friends suggested squash a few years back as a Friday night activity... guess what.. fractured the same foot back then.

Pro tip: if your friends suggest sport instead of drinks on a Friday evening just politely tell them to f*** off haha 😉.

Cheers,
Max
