Hello Some time ago I saw this watch that intrigued me , It is a rather strange piece that looks like a Speedmaster but it is not an Omega , the seller info is that the case is a N.O.S. prototype made by Huguenin Freres (the same factory that made the Speedmaster cases) and it is supposed to be a discarded by Omega prototype made in the 60´s , it is signed HF inside the caseback like the Speedmasters , and the number 2960 engraved outside the caseback (I have seen pics of several cases and each has its own number). Finally decided to purchase and I am really happy , I think is a very attractive and special piece and like specially the turnable grey bezel (even has a dot on 9 smaller inner one) , the fact that the case is exactly as the Speedmaster one (excellent quality , I think absolutely similar to the Omega one) , the red day color and also find the Valjoux movement really nice , I bought a grey perlon and a red stripe NATO straps for it and you can also see in the photographs with a 1450 Speedmaster bracelet It is a pleasure to share some pics with you , thanks for reading and hope you like
These cases have been knocking around for a while. I didn't think they were cheap, but I do like them. The owner was trying to sell the empty cases with no luck, and now has assembled watches, quite sensibly. I think this is extremely attractive. It is rare, if perhaps not valuable in the long run, as it is not an omega assembled prototype, nor does it carry the Omega name anywhere. So the story is hearsay, if believable. . Funny how when it was on eBay I thought, oh no, a made up story, not very nice - but now I think it is a very attractive watch, with an interesting story, and now I see it on your wrist, my opinion is changed and I think it is great!
Thanks for your comment Spacefruit , make your ideas mine ¿who knows the truth? Probably no one ever but....I like it Happy you like
