Whilst your here @Northenman. Do you know of a Lemania case ref 816 819 or there abouts?

I am not Lord of the Viggens, but perhaps can help too.. I was told once that with this bezel config, and no military markings on the back, that this could be South African Air Force issued. Lemania SAAF, but I am not 100% sure. Anyone else?

This is mostly correct, it is a later series SAAF, but it should have military markings on back. Here's a good resource for all SAAF issued watches...

@LarryG and @Northenman

Thanks I think it's more likely to be saaf too. I can't get at the website till my computer is working again. But did find that the caseref for saaf is 817 also. So it's down to batch numbers for the final say..

Those watches are anyway from a time of turmoil in the industry.
Lemania would not use ref numbers for other purposes than identifying a certain case design. They would not issue specific ref number for a given client.
All in all I would not be surprised if a few watches have made it directly to the public.

Thanks for everyone's help who chimed in. I suspect the world of Lemania will not be complete without one of these. God knows some the members here should have a shop open already.

Friday night special - after too much food and drink I can still say that bezel and caseback is not issued Swedish airforce material. Even if early with fumbly engraved individual number (which it does not have) it should have stamping of "M-number" and three crowns on caseback. Bezel is just plain wrong for Swedish "Viggen". Nice watch but no cigar... and advertising it as an issued watch is a scam. No matter how many pictures of Swedish pilots the seller has attached to it.

I'll try to answer best I can. It's known for really cool mil watches, good mountains and skiing, world class lakes, punctuality, engineering, world class knives. It's diplomacy and the country is neutral. The flag has a cross on it. Hosted world cup in icehockey. You probably heard of it. Any wiser?

I know what I'm going to say next is going to stir up some frenzy...

YES
Yes

It's a Viggen for sale on the rolex forum. Its has character shall I say. Prestige yes prestine well it's got character.

My questions are about the early 1st issue. The ones with issue numbers between the lugs.
Do they have M # and tre kronor on caseback?
Are the welds always three digits or a mix of # / ## / ###

Thanks in advanced flying manovers.

Here is the link.

From the Rolex forum listing:
"As research shows no civilian models of the Lemania Cal. 1872 was commercially available to the civilian market. "
Yeaaah right....:whipped:

They obviously forgot to research Eberhards offerings.
And several others I am quite sure.
