I opened the thread with great expectations, as I'm sure all members and visitors will also. Fortunately @dougiedude had already added something to look at.

Hoping we may have seen your favourite, meant to copy and paste the last time we saw her but that would have led to far to many questions from the good lady :(

One of the most shocking documentaries I've ever seen.
Didn't know any of the story prior to seeing it.
(Think it was called 'Madness in the fast lane'.)

Sorry to all the fellow "appreciators" for a pictureless thread bump [emoji6]

I miss my Saabs. I had 5 of them from 1997-2012.

GM just sucked the life out of them and spit out the carcass.

Not twins exactly. The '04 barely has 20K miles on her. The '99 is approaching 100K.

donno - the other day I was "somewhat" debating on picking a used one up ... they are nearly impossible to sell, and the extremely low prices reflect that ...

anybody got any thoughts on that? ... are they more or less easy to work on? parts interchangable with GM? ... b/c in said scenario, this would mean that buying the car cheap and driving it for 10+ years until it falls apart...

so, calling all car and saab buffs ;-

IIRC the Austrians had those - and also all kind of noise induced problems ... they were loud as fuck!

Yeah, hard to say. (Our '04 was purchased new and my '99 I bought used a couple years before that.) I've got a local mechanic who specializes in Saabs and I asked a few years ago about parts and the answer then was it wasn't a problem.

I had to call the auto club a couple weeks ago (battery dead due to lack of use) and the guy practically offered to buy it on the spot. And I think that was before I told him about the low mileage. He told me the Blue Book was about $3500 on them.

Anyway, I may be selling the '04 this year. I'll put it on the private sales forum here with free shipping we'll see how it goes.

I had a 1980 900, which lasted me till '98, my Dad had passed it on to me when GM took over SAAB. He had rushed out in 1991 and grabbed one last pre-GM machines before they could ruin them.

    It was also a 900.

Somewhere along the line.... pre GM, We were invited to the dealership for the first Canadian showing of the 9000.... a swanky affair with a covered car in the middle of the room and wine and cheese and crappy little crackers.... anyway, once the cover was off the nice man from the Canadian importer came over to us and asked my Dad what he thought of SAAB's beautiful new baby, he said, totally deadpan, "If I wanted a Ford Tempo, I'd buy a Ford Tempo", and went back to his drink.

I had to turn away as I though I might die laughing if I tried to continue in that current company and the importer's rep looked like he was about to cry.

anyway Dad's 900 looked and ran like new right up until some ass in a minivan, yakking on a cell phone, slammed into it last spring. It was completely destroyed.

it was 24 years old and had only 90,000km on it.

and really hadn't met winter yet. Even the insurance guy and the tow truck driver were upset!
