One of the AD's in my area still has a Quartz in stock, I was shocked.
As for new or preowned, I have only bought new. There's something special about being the first owner and giving a watch its new life.

I was looking at 2221.80.00. I didn't know they were discontinued.

I've 5 automatic watches now. I just want a quartz.

And being a bit less costly,I can devote the $$ for more firearms.
That's a great watch. And if you travel much, you'll enjoy the ability to quickly set the hour hand for a different time zone without disturbing the minute or seconds hand. I purchased the mid sized model about a year ago from an ebay seller to compliment my mechanical version which I seem to get badly magnetized on a regular basis. Had an AD replace the battery and pressure test, and it's been a pleasure to wear.

Get a mechanical watch. If cost is a consideration, going pre-owned should not worry you as long as you go through a reputable seller. Avoid Craig's List at all costs. You may want to have a look at Goveberg Watches or Bernard Watch Company for a pretty good spread of Omegas. The latter pretty regularly has fully documented un-worn pieces at very competitive prices.

If you want Quartz and already have mechanical watches then why not, they are great things to check variance of your mechanicals. I have a seiko kinetic which is a hybrid Quartz mechanical but I do judge how accurate my new autos are against this.
Omega make some very good Quartz watches so after my sarcastic first post I'm saying you need a quartz in your life. Check out the sm200 pre bond the very early ones are crazy accurate with amazing Quartz mechanisms that are even better than omegas current offerings.

Cmon guys I can't remember the calibre of the early pre bonds remind me.

Thanks for the input. Cost isn't that much of an issue. It's just that I enjoy looking for the right deal. I just can't help it. It's the thrill of the chase and all.

As far as firearms-Dakota and Anshutz and pre-war Colts are my downfalls.

I will check out the SM200 series.

AFAIK, there are no new quartz Seamasters, only mechanical.
Dunno, I was looking at a nice Seamaster 300M quartz at the Omega dealer not long ago..... might depend on what market you live in

As I was out and about today, I stopped at Jared's in Skokie,IL. They had one Seamaster 300M quartz-(black),full size. Brand new for $1680.00 plus tax. They told me that the quartz versions are discontinued.

It's just a bit too big for my wrist or I'd be wearing it now.

The price delta between the quartz and mechanical variants of the Seamaster's you're looking at is only a few hundred $ at most so I'd say stick with the mechanical if you're buying used, but go with quartz if you're dead set on purchasing new. Best of luck with the search

Loved my Quartz seamaster (picture is on my avatar)but traded it in to fund the chrono diver I wanted. Really didn't to part with it but was offered more money than I paid for it. The blue face looks great

Well, here it is. Right watch at the right price. This is the seller's pic. It looks better in real life.

A Speedmaster is next on my list now. (I know,I know-it's an automatic. I'll bite the bullet and get one anyway.)

I also like that newly released,(at Basel) Oris Sixty-Five.

Thanks for all the input. I appreciate it.

Very nice and clean, and I think the blue face works great with the bond bracelet. Wear it in good health.
