my bracket so far
Go Canada! Allez le Canada!!

And thanks: this is the first time I've actually had a focus on the pathways. I'm calling it now: semifinals France:Spain, England (but maybe Brazil):Argentina.

France and Argentina for another final, but still could go either way.
(Sub-dial: President Milei to receive personal congratulations from the host delegation if Argentina wins; President Macron to receive an invoice from them if France does so...) 😉

Okay, your votes on Brazil - Japan please, i am in for a surprise so 2- 3 for Japan.
Japan are dark-horses and playing well but I think Brazil are too good for them.
Well now, Brazil were asleep for the first half but a very well taken goal by Japan.

Japan were forced to park the bus in the second half and Brazil were less than convincing at the back but with some moments of joyful brilliance up front.

Exquisite pass from Bruno and beautiful control by Martinelli for the winning goal

Germany goal should never have been disallowed. Sometimes VAR decisions based on slow motion replay get it wrong.

But credit to Paraguay they were resilient.

And +1 for the minnows:
Paraguay ranked 34 prior to Tournament, 3 places behind Cote Ivoire and 4 places behind Canada.

That’s why they don’t just hand out prizes based on rankings. No matter how good everyone thinks you are, you still have to perform on the day…

so far...this World Cup is phenomenal.....the drama of the penalty kicks of Paraguay winning over Germany....I say keep the 48 teams....sometimes it's good to have some twists along the way....makes things a little unpredictable & fun vs what it used to be....

I agree. Whatever happened to the requirement of a "clear and obvious" error in the call on the field. That was such a soft penalty.

Woke up to surprising breakfast news to say the least, and sad to see the Dutch go home. Looks like a change of the guards world cup, old countries go and minnows take over. The performance level is very close regardless of FIFA ranking so it can go terribly wrong if it is not your day.
Or a coach changes tactics and it does not work out.....🤔

France were sublime to watch tonight.
Sweden defended valiantly for large parts of the match but the French forward line was irresistible.
(The Swedish forwards were MIA)

I only got to see the first half but it was the best half i saw in a long time, even with Dembele having one of his classic misfires 🙂.

You missed something of a treat in the second half.

Here's hoping that Yoane Wissa is as ineffectual tonight as Isak and Elanga were last night.

Normal subtitles are included in the standard package but you definitely need the premium subscription for Scouse to English translation.
