·Happy for the Canadians but this game made a strong case for keeping entries limited to 32 countries....
Hopefully we see some better play with Brazil vs Japan tonight and Netherlands vs Marocco wil surely bring great action but it will be during my sleeping hours so i have to watch the recap Tuesday morning. France vs Sweden should also bring a lot of goals with two of the best forward sections in the World Cup.

Apart from against Tunisia (hardly the toughest of tests) the Swedish marvels that are Isak and Gyokeres haven't exactly set the pitch on fire
- and when Sweden have to rely on Anthony Elanga to save their skins you know there is an issue.
I look forward to seeing their front line up against the French defence - and they have to get past Rabiot before that......
The French on the other hand - sacre bleu!

··Purrrr-veyor of luxury cat box loungersTrue, but Swedes need a little warm up time to get out of the cold ! You will see their strength as France will give room to play.
But I don't think that Isak and Gyokeres gel particularly well (a bit like Isak at Liverpool - is there a pattern emerging there?) - so rather than their talents being a cumulation of their skills it appears to be less than a sum of their parts.
They are both dangerous when on their game but it will be interesting to see how they fair when up against world-class defenders - I suspect it will very much depend on the supply they get.
The 2024-25 season team at Newcastle was built around supplying Isak - and as a consequence he, and Newcastle, were incredibly successful. (hence his price tag)
But he had Guimaraes (Brazil's current star playmaker) and Italy's mid-field general Tonali (one of the best mid-field playmakers in the world not at the tournament) and Gordon on the left wing, supplying him,
I'm not sure that Sweden's route-1 balls over the top are going to bother the French defence all that much.

Magpie management is selling well, Gordon worth 80 mil to Barcelona ???? C`mon on.... plus the Isak jackpot but they need to work on buying the good stuff back a little more. woltemade ??? Most Germans fail in the PL , Havertz is my weekly amusement park out 😂 it is such a strong competition.

Given that Elanga is scoring for Sweden and Wissa is scoring for DRC (something that both of them struggle to do when wearing black and white) I think Germany should play Waltemade - they might have a goal scorer on their hands !
(I'm not sure how I will feel if Wissa puts England to the sword on Wednesday 😵💫)
