Hello,
I'm new to this forum and recently my interest in Omega vintage watches was sparked. I discovered a Seamaster 120 from 1967 in Alberto Isnardi's book and I think it's wonderful. After some searching, I was offered the following watch: There is probably an eBay authenticity check, but I don't really trust it, what would be your assessment? Fake or not?
Thank you very much for your feedback!

Looks genuine but worn. Wrong crown.

Do you have any more pictures to better assess condition. What’s the asking?

aprox. serial number range of movement, you should consider this as well if the watch was manufactured a certain year it should at least have a movement that matches the production run ...

some say the OMEGA 120 was introduced in 1966 (?) and was sold to the general public in 1967.

aprox movement serial number range ...

Omega Movement Serial Number Range:
1967 - 25,000,000 – 25,999,999
1968 - 26,000,000 – 27,999,999
1969 - 28,000,000 – 31,999,999

The Gentleman's (smaller version made for the ladies) SEAMASTER 120 came in 4 models:

Case ref.# - 135.027 ....... Manual Movement, No Date, Caliber 601
Case ref.# - 136.027 ........ Manual Movement, with Date, Caliber 613
Case ref.# - 165.027 ........ Auto Movement, No Date, Caliber 552
Case ref.# - 166.027 ........ Auto Movement, with Date, Cailber 565

It’s genuine but condition is very average. Then again the price is less than what you’d pay for a good one with a bracelet.

I know this is an old post, but thank you from a "new collector".
It's posts like these that keep the collectors informed and less likely to buy the wrong thing.
Cheers from Canada

thank you for your replies, can you please help point to what looks suspect besides caseback? any insight would be very helpful. i purchased it with ebay authentication - which it passed… i am able to return it but i would love to be able to provide why, if there is more then the caseback.

I’m actually not going to list the main tells here as these fakes are being produced now and each batch seems to get better. It wouldn’t surprise me if the people making these watch these kinds of threads for tips to improve future batches.

I’d just return it, you have that choice with eBay and don’t need to provide a reason.

About 95% of the Seamaster 120 135.027 (the manual winding no date version) sold on ebay are fakes.

Fake kits including dial, hands and complete case are easily available for about $400.

New fake kits just appeared for the 165.027 565 auto date too.

BTW Omega doesn't have parts (dial, case) for these models for more than 20 years anymore.

Fakes are easy to spot:

Bezel have 120 teeth (144 for the real ones)
Lume spot does not have a metal ring, but is under a very small hesalite dome
Dial writings are greyish not bold white
Omega logo is different
Index are yellow painted, and don't look like real tritium

Casebacks have pointed A and Omega symbol is too small (same difference on the 166.027 auto date casebacks)

Inside the saceback for comparaison, fake left

Seamaster 120 auto date 166.027 dial is quite different:
Dial writings are greyish not bold white
More space between Omega logo and text
Indexes are narrower like the no date version
T SWISSMADE T is like the no date version
Date window is flat

Hope it helps

Here is the whole (real) family
166.027 auto date
136.027 manual date
135.027 manual no date
165.027 auto no date
Where can I find a bezel for it? Seems like impossible job right now. Ref 165.00027
1968 seamaster 120m cal 552 no date
Please any suggestions would help.
