About 95% of the Seamaster 120 135.027 (the manual winding no date version) sold on ebay are fakes.

Fake kits including dial, hands and complete case are easily available for about $400.

New fake kits just appeared for the 165.027 565 auto date too.

BTW Omega doesn't have parts (dial, case) for these models for more than 20 years anymore.

    Fakes are easy to spot:

Bezel have 120 teeth (144 for the real ones)
Lume spot does not have a metal ring, but is under a very small hesalite dome
Dial writings are greyish not bold white
    Omega logo is different
Index are yellow painted, and don't look like real tritium

Casebacks have pointed A and Omega symbol is too small (same difference on the 166.027 auto date casebacks)

    comparaison 120 no date caseback.JPG

Inside the saceback for comparaison, fake left

Seamaster 120 auto date 166.027 dial is quite different:
Dial writings are greyish not bold white
More space between Omega logo and text
Indexes are narrower like the no date version
T SWISSMADE T is like the no date version
    Date window is flat

    Hope it helps

Here is the whole (real) family
    166.027 auto date
    136.027 manual date
    135.027 manual no date
    165.027 auto no date

I was aware of a lot of these 'tells' but certainly not all of them.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

I am away to review my ebay watch list to see if there are any fakes on there!

I also noticed a difference with the mid cases on the fakes. On the original SM120, the top side of the lugs is polished, while the fake ones are brushed

Right, but many are artificially aged, polished, scratched...

Yes this is great. We need to report these and get them out of the market.
