I think Lewis has turned the corner and is now winning the trash talk, mind games. Seems to be getting under Max's skin with the patronising patter.

·Hitting the wall was a big set back. No chance to get the tyres up to temp in time remaining. Not sure I would put that driving error down to Max’s mind games though.

·Not really... They called him in at least 2 laps before it was too late. And by then it was clearly too soon AND the damp parts of the track were already drying.
Hamilton did not want to pit in either but he does it when they said rain was increasing.
It is also up to the engineer to tell him how confident they are. If they only say "we think we should pit" and the driver feels the opposite, he will not come. If they are sure he'll loose the race by not pitting, they must tell him. And 99% of the time the driver will pit
