Racing incident but Max should learn when to back out. I can see why he wouldn’t at this race since this is a Mercedes track and taking Lewis out is a net benefit for Max and RB.

Verstappen #KlompenLand not a gentleman driver, didn't even take a moment to see if Lewis Hamilton was O.K. !
In the days of Senna, Mansell & Prost... everyone was a gentleman driver !

I don’t know, when he walked past Lewis and looked over there Lewis was trying to reverse out from under Max‘s car. That’s a pretty solid sign he was alright, I‘d say.

Congratulations to Ricciardo for a well earned win.

As for the HAM & VER incident, we are going to have two weeks to hear people complain about it. The stewards made their decision and that's it. I'm just glad no one got seriously hurt.

Looks like the racing stewards disagreed with most of us and called it mainly Max’s fault. I thought the GB incident should’ve been a racing incident also but oh well.

Question I have is if Max can take an engine penalty and 3 grid spot at the same race?

I was wondering the same. The downside with taking the engine penalty in Sochi is the track isn't great for passing.

It comes down to what was the predicted outcome from his move. Lewis was ahead, Max had no good outcome from pushing the point there. I’m not sure what Max is trying to accomplish bullying Lewis. Lewis has now stood his ground 3 times vs Max. He no longer cares about Max Crashtapen reputation.

max is trying to be a bully like Schumacher was… the difference was Schumacher made the moves earlier and didn’t force accidents.

“At the 50m board before Turn 1, Car 44 (Hamilton) was significantly ahead of Car 33 (Verstappen),” the stewards decision read. “Car 33 braked late and started to move alongside Car 44, although at no point in the sequence does Car 33 get any further forward than just behind the front wheel of Car 44.

“During the hearing the driver of Car 33 asserted that the cause of the incident was the driver of Car 44 opening the steering after Turn 1 and ‘squeezing’ him to the apex of Turn 2. The driver of Car 44 asserted that the driver of Car 33 attempted to pass very late and should have given up the corner either by backing off sooner, or by turning left behind the curb.

“The Stewards observed on CCTV footage that the driver of Car 44 was driving an avoiding line, although his position caused Car 33 to go onto the curb. But further, the Stewards observed that Car 33 was not at all alongside Car 44 until significantly into the entry into Turn 1. In the opinion of the Stewards, this maneuver was attempted too late for the driver of Car 33 to have ‘the right to racing room.’

“While Car 44 could have steered further from the curb to avoid the incident, the Stewards determined that his position was reasonable and therefore find that the driver of Car 33 was predominantly to blame for the incident.

“In coming to the penalty the Stewards emphasize that they have only considered the incident itself and not the consequences thereof.”

In simpler terms, Max dive bombed the inside line hoping Lewis would back out.

Great race and great racing. I think both Max and Lewis are doing a fine job. Aggressive✅ Fast✅ Uncompromising ✅
Off track they and the teams are keeping up the conflict with a battle of wills and confidence. All standard for top drivers in F1.
Super drives from Riciardo and Bottas too. Great to see them both with well deserved smiles on their faces

I get heat of the moment when Max didn’t even bother checking to see if Lewis was okay but damn Max. Be more mature or have someone else handle your Twitter/Instagram for a day or 2 after any incident.

He can indeed take the engine penalty there, given that Sochi has been one of Mercedes' happiest hunting grounds in recent years and is definitely a power circuit it would make sense for sure to take that pain there, effectively nullifying the penalty's impact and putting Max in a good position heading into the US leg.
