Looks like AM is planning to appeal the DQ. They're saying the fuel was there, the stewards just couldn't find it.

The thing is they apparently spend an hour and a half trying to get the fuel out (Aston) and were unsuccessful trying 2-3 different methods, they claim its a bad pump or something and that sensor data shows that the fuel rate would have only expended all but 1 and a bit KG of fuel, but…. If its possible the pump being bad is the reason the engine stopped, then its also possible that the fuel flow meter failed or was faulty and that the engine consumed more fuel than was intended as happened to Danny Ric back in 2014.

#WeRaceAsOne 😗

speaking of which, loved the protest by Seb and a few others, wearing the rainbow shirts and masks during the Hungarian national anthem. Had to smile at the FIA statement later, who decided that no fines were being issues against the drivers that didn’t follow protocol during the pre-race procedure: They claimed they must’ve forgotten to take off the shirts, which was ruled plausible. 😁

Here is what I don’t get. Bottas made an error but it was a racing incident he was not out of line with what he was doing. Lando cut his air flow and front down force and he locked up in extremely greasy conditions.

Lance comes in way to hot dives into the grass to brake with predictable results and takes out drivers.

which should get the 5 place penalty on n the next race.

remember the FIA, Stewards, Drivers, and Teams have all reiterated that the outcome of an investigation no dent should not factor into the severity of a penalty.

Can anyone tell me what happened to George Russel that caused him to drop down the order from 2nd place after the restart?

Due to his pit box location, he overtook people in the pit lane when everyone came in to ditch the intermediates for a pit lane restart. The FIA made him give the positions back after racing got started.

He was asked to by the motorsport director. Apparently, he overtook quite a few people in the pits before the restart.

/edit: Too slow 😀 The F1-thread is a quick one, unsurprisingly!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's because the motorsport director asked him to give his spots back for basically overtaking in the pit lane.

So George had the final pit lane spot. He merged into the line getting ready to exit the pit ahead of the last car in line when he exited his pit.

all transparent and clear. Just another one of those odd situations.

Well, we saw 1 car in the starting grid of the restart. That, to me, was the pinacle of oddity.

i thought he was passing cars on the the pit lane exit when he came out and they made him give them back.
Its too bad, i loved seeing him up near the top again.

His day will come. Maybe sooner than expected after Bottas' recent debacle...

If Mercedes and Lewis take both championships, they owe Bottas a huge bonus. His first crash with Russell allowed Lewis to catch up on being a lap down to take 2nd. This crash took out one RB, sent Max to the back, and will probably give them engine penalties.

If karma is real, Mercedes has a rough road ahead.
