Unfortunately not 18k, but gold capped. I will sell it as soon as I find a good 18k example.

Case ref. says 1960. Movement caliber unknown to me.

Does anyone have a ladies Kontiki (20) or other high end Eterna laying around, gathering dust? I'm looking for a Christmas present, so PM me please 😀

The wife has a Kontiki 10... But she gives it a lot of wrist time (even if she never sets the date). And of course it is April 😎

Really a cool design, I love the dramatic angles on the side of the case.

That's a great piece. You do see them pop up online occasionally, but sellers insist on fetching top end gents watch prices for their ladies watches. Too bad.

That's sharp. My pale one (not a 20, tho) says hello.
And mine non-matic Kontiki with date says hi 😀

That's hot! What's up with 'non-matic', and what's the serial range of them?
Here's my 472x (1962) yes-matic, that I've shared before of course. The case is as sharp as yours. What a shape huh.

I actually don't know I did first believe the manual non-matic was the earliest kontikis but that is clearly not correct since most of them seems to appear 1963-1965.

This one is a 488' serial and the manual non-matic without date I sold here last year had a 500' serial number:

And yes the case on this one is even better than the recent one, probably sharpest shapes I've seen on these:

Thanks, that's some food for thought!
I see there are some readily available through the regular channels, and apparently they come relatively cheap. Did both of your examples feature crowns without the 5 ball logo?

Yes both had the unsigned crown and blank caseback, but 5-ball logo in the crystal!

Something I just noticed is that the non-date (from around -65) did have T swiss T dial while the date (from around 1963) have swiss only dial.

So I guess Eterna did start to mark their dials with T's somewhere in the 63-65 area?

According to https://www.watchbooksonly.com/articles/watch-reviews/speedmasters-dials/

"The T indication only appeared in 1964 following a Swiss interior ministry ruling from October 1963 on radiation from luminous watch dials. It required indication of the presence of radioactive substances and set forth a table of radiation limits, which came into force on January 1, 1964.

[...]

From July 1, 1964 manufacturers were only allowed to sell watches complying with the regulations governing the indication of tritium on the dial."

Great pieces guys! I believe non-Matics are the handwound Kontikis.

Yeah I get why the manual wound versions dont have the 5-ball logo on the dial, crown etc since its not an (auto)matic.

But why no emblem on the caseback like all other Kontikis?

Does anyone know what the period-correct crown is for the Kontiki first execution, and from whence (if anywhere) they can be sourced?
