Thanks, guys. I since got the chance to take some decent photos. I felt the previous didn't to her justice as they were taken beneath my aquarium fixture, which has a purple-ish hue. Here she is in the morning sun.
Love it! How is the reserve?
I'm not really sure since it is an automatic, I would guess in the 36-48 hour range. I guess I can wind it up before it gets put in the box tonight and just leave it off to see.
I'm asking because my Eterna-matic 300 keeps pretty good time, but I think the reserve is noticeably down, maybe 20-30 hours. I have adjusted it myself, but I don't know exactly what to do about the reserve. The accuracy kind of peters out at the end... I'll post a graph
I sent an e-mail to Eterna to find more information about my watch and this was the response:
"
Unfortunately, a lot of the ETERNA history is no longer available to us. Your watch reference is definitely no longer known to us and most probably older than 50 years. We can barely find information about models older than the 1970’s.
We can just inform you about Eterna Matic 3000 solid gold capped 1962. Case ref 146T. Calibre 1466 U quick date setting is based on an ETA 2498 movement but made to Eterna specification in 1967 this ETA movement caliber 2498 is also used in later produced Eterna 3000 model watches caliber 1500.
Watch with softly textured dial, signed crown and signed glass, non-brand strap and buckle."
While I certainly appreciate that they responded to my request, I am sad to hear that the company doesn't know much about it's own history and curious why this is happening, considering that in the answers from the company I have seen in various threads, they seemed pretty much knowledgeable.
Your thoughts;
That email so sad that it is kind of funny. Did you tell them the date and calibre, or did they tell you? Some of the dates aren't working out. It's a 1962 model, probably older than 50, (sounds like something my uncle would say) with a calibre made to Eterna specifications in 1967.
I only told them the movement serial number and sent them some photos of my watch.
ah, well then it wasn't bad information, maybe person in chaqrge of emails was just having a bad day.
Maybe if they just wrote:
"Thank you for sharing this beautiful watch. This Eterna Matic 3000 has a solid gold capped 1962 case ref 146T. Inside, it has the Eterna Calibre 1466 U with a quick date setting, based on an ETA 2498 movement, but made to Eterna specification in 1967. This ETA movement caliber 2498 was later produced Eterna 3000 model watches caliber 1500...."
By the way, I read that the 1500 calibre is the basis for the popular ETA 2982, maybe one of the most common movements around. Is that correct? I think that is pretty cool to own a watch with the 1500 and 2982.
Wow! Works like ke a charm
I might need to get mine fixed up. Can you send me your watch shop info?
