·I recently acquired this for very little. For me, it delivers huge pleasure per $/£: it's one of those beautiful vintage pieces that isn't too precious to wear, and it's been making me very happy in dark times. There's so much I like about it, but the 1/5th divisions for each second on the dial really impressed me. The case puts me in mind of American LeCoultre of the period - can't be bad.
1951 (imho, based on caseback and movement serials) Eterna-Matic with cal 1249T inside, and 80 micron GP case by Huguenin Frères. Case is 35mm w/o crown, 11mm thick, so a pleasantly chunky wear by 2020 standards. Keeping time well, but probably off to the WM soon to have a good interior clean.
I threw away the crumbling (non-original, but old and dreary black) strap, and put on a dark brown croco number - usually looks less red, more chocolate in everyday light. I love wearing it atm, so this photo may reappear soon on WRUW.
Goodness knows what happened to the case back - inscription inside confirms it really is acier inoxydable, not cheese. But I like the HF 80 mark on the lug, at the top here.
I could see this becoming a worry-free daily wear for office, evenings, etc. 😁 Thank you OF for sharing!
