Does this UG 22279 Look Good

Less common than white dial but not remotely as rare as black dial.

I'm not convinced that first example above is a UG case, would need more pics and case stamping.

Gold hands on gold dial seems not very legible, but I have never researched these, maybe that is normal. I would want to see other examples because the H/M hands in the second example look weird. I would expect thinner blue leaf hands on both examples.

The seller says the case is a contract case with French Hallmarks. But the dial looks white to me rather than rose gold?

I must admit that I have no clue whatsoever about UG Tri.
But solely based on judging from the day (MAR) & month (JUI) window, I would say redial. Or at least that something isn't correct here.

Edit: in addition, the 25 and 35 minute markers (indices) don't approach the subdial in the same way. Which would be another thing pointing towards redial

No issues .. dials are ok. Search “French Contact Case” or “French Cased” ...it’s a thing but impacts value.

So French cases are less valuable than UG cases then?
Not saying they are not lovely but provenance is harder to establish.

I personally won't buy a french gold case. I mean generally speaking national cases.
Not because there's something wrong, but for common pieces like TriCompaxes, maybe it's better to have a standard swiss case.

The dials are fine.

I wouldn't either, unless it was really cheap. This is not a UG case, however you want to phrase it.

Sorry to disagree, but I’d buy a French cased UG at full price. Oh wait...I just did! 😉

@bgrisso @Larry S @vujen

Your case has all the expected stamping, logos, reference, serial, hammerhead, etc. The other case above from OP has no markings, so I don't think there's any comparison.

Also I am confused by the other thread, since it seems you and others concluded yours was a Swiss case imported into France, not a French cased example 😕

Yes, you are correct. Mine is a Swiss case imported into France, so the direct comparison to the OP wasn’t particularly on point. Sorry for any confusion I’ve caused - and thanks!

I don't think anyone minds getting another look at that very nice Tri, its just not even close to a fair fight putting it up against the no-name case above 😉

@bgrisso Ha, very kind of you. I should simply stop responding to posts late at night when my brain is fried...

I kinda like the idea of a French cased UG. It marks a certain time in history.

The French were trying to to protect their jewelry making industry after WWII.

Err something like these?

that's funny, I had forgotten this thread and these pics, and here we are 3 years later and I ended up with one of the Truman 12551 gold dials, this thread example is the only other one I have seen aside from mine....
