Does Anyone Know How Many Straight Writing Speedmasters Were Produced?

I found the original sales store for the watch i posted, the ebay seller is consigned or just copied it from their Alpha Watch store and doubled the price... ( so it`s 10K but the dust cap is modern which may give an opening for a better price ? ) and they returned quickly with an answer, domo arigato !
The serial is 2960xxx 馃槙 so way early but still in line with the general -69 range. Coming from a Wako Ginza store it is likely to have been original at the time, and it could also explain the DON bezel i think, but who knows ; maybe a client requested an A11 caseback and it was swapped with the pre-moon seahorse. A watch with a story for sure.

This watch is both intriguing and problematic.
The 1972 sales date likely just means it sat on the shelf for awhile. The early movement number and DON are tough to explain. This is a good watch candidate for an extract.
The watch has been serviced with new hands and crown, which means a human intervened. Did that person also add papers or caseback? The caseback could be original to the watch but it could have been added to help move a slow selling watch (meaning, it could have been added as far back as 1972). Would be great if they had the original hands in a baggie stored away.
Definitely has a story to tell.

路Coming up for auction at Dr. Crott another early one with Movm. No. 29600924, Ref. 145.022-69, Cal. 861, and it says ; origin Swiss but since there is no EoA i dont know if that means made in Swiss or sold in Swiss. Lots of aging on the hands and bezel - the caseback looks a whole lot better.... Is the writer of MWO book present here as we now have at least two posted outside of the 31xxxx range ?
