@Wallardy[/USER], so nice to be joined by a lovely lady watch nerd -- no "mansplaining" to be feared here I can assure you.
And I should thank you for helping indirectly my attempts to convince these kind gentlemen to relieve their wives of any cumbersome watch gifts 😁

I will be happy to assist you in relieving the wives of their guilt gifts! Added bonus for you is that I prefer men's sized watches, so I will be sure to steer all of the unwanted wife gifts your way!

Of the dozen or so that I have given Mrs. C. Over the past 30 years (and more), I can narrow here choice of watches to wear, to two Omegas and her Rolex. My favourite is a 1920s vintage 14-karat white gold, diamond set Gruen which I don’t recall her ever wearing. She agreed to have the Gruen on her wrist, today, long enough for me to take a picture.

So grateful ! Just to spare you some needless effort though, my interest in ladies’ watches is very narrow - brand specific and period specific-as those kind gentlemen are aware 😉,

I COMPLETELY understand. Imagine that, women who don’t just want to buy anything out there that’s made for “ladies” and have specific tastes and opinions! I swear, sometimes things are marketed as though we are a separate species who all must just like the same things.

Whenever I go to buy golf clubs and apparel it’s the same thing 🤦. Do they know that there are more options than pink and baby blue? And don’t even get me started on cars.

I actually quite like going through pre-Depression era Hamilton catalogs because they used the same movements for their men's and women's watches, just different cases (which weren't substantially different) and the marketing text was about how a woman needed a good watch as she pursued her career in an office/school/hospital or engaged in sports like sailing or golf

Here's a photo of the watch I picked up for $15, I took off the band, it was very small and slightly bent and put on a simple leather band w/ hoops to connect to the face. Sadly, she just wasn't interested.

Exactly— for example all of the current Omega Ladies models are glitzy bling things with diamond and mother of pearl. Would it occur to them to do a 36mm version of the Spectre Seamaster which has such a beautiful vintage vibe? No, we all have to like the stuff they choose to peddle on Cindy Crawford’s wrist.
Longines, on the other hand, has gotten the memo as they just released a terrific 36mm version of the Legend diver. But people at Longines are keenly aware they have a large proportion of women among their following— apparently a larger proportion than other brands. (See my picture below from Basel World where I was able to try it on).

Agreed, love those US market materials revealing the dramatic evolution of women’s position in the US. We have forgotten there were several women aviation heroes and women’s sports had also developed a great deal. I have some Longines material from the 1940s to that effect which I’ve been wanting to post about.... just need to find the time.

My other half wears watches. In addition to the vintage watches below she also has a more contemporary JLC Reverso DuoFace and a smallish -25mm- modern automatic Longines with nice duo-tone metal bracelet.

I bought my wife a Longines La Grand Classique a few years ago,but the last time I took it in for a new battery I was told that the movement had perished 😲 She tried this on at a boutique on a recent trip and it’s become a firm favourite...

Thank you Longines! Your picture is great! I have been looking at a ton of burgundy dialed and burgundy bezeled divers lately and thinking to myself, wouldn’t it be great if they made women’s watches/33-37mm in this color...

Or just women’s products in general. My biggest pet peeve was when sports apparel (particularly team apparel) wouldn’t come in any other colors but pink or baby blue, but some companies and leagues are wising up now.

Actually @Wallardy, this Longines fits squarely in your initial question about ladies watches that are the same as men’s models. But back then I think you were asking about vintage. This one is a reedition.

That was @connieseamaster, but it was a topic that I thoroughly endorsed!

Ah you’re right, apologies to both. The confusion comes from the fact you both seem to like 35-36mm sporty watches. By the way, I like them too even though I only have one serious men’s diver, which id 38mm. Below posted with a friend’s. (Mine is the Forban, credit Stiocour for the Gruen watch which is a rare beast).

Yes she has nicked quite a few of mine, it’s very popular in the uk, with an AD telling me that it’s adding to demand for men’s sports Rolex at the moment

My wife wears a watch. She is usually practical, as schoolteachers are, but I got her this bumper wind last year and it is beautiful on her (as most things are!)

She just got back from a mission trip/home rebuild in Puerto Rico. While there, she wore my 42mm Khaki; she liked it enough that I am probably picking up a 38mm for her this month - practical, as I stated before.

Again, I am partial to her in vintage, and the strap picks up the uneven light brown patina in ways my iPad camera does not, so, another look:

I’d give you a wrist shot, but if I asked her to put on a watch so I could take a picture to post online, she’d look at me like I had 3 eyes and 2 noses.

(When what I really want is 4 wrists! )

Mine wore an Apple Watch for about a month. After sitting in a drawer for a few months, I sold at a 50% haircut.

Wow what a pity. So does she simply use a phone to get the time?

My wife doesn’t really care that much for watches. I gave her a Bulova years ago and she wore it for a long time until it was replaced with this Omega Constellation. She wears this one daily.
