image.jpg ive been luck enough to acquire a few nice watches so far in life. I got hooked on watches at a very young age but for the most part my watches are midgrade to what is shown here. What started it all off was finding my grandfathers watch in a draw full of junk after he passed away. It’s a 1940’s bulova I believe. I remember bringing it too my watch guy as it wasn’t running and he told me it needed a new movement (if he could find it) which would cost a hundred bucks which would be equal to or more than it’s value. I gave him the go ahead and he was able to find it. It’s a run of the mill old bulova but I’ve maintained it through the years. I’ve filled up three watch boxes since then, some are very nice most are unremarkable but this is the top of my collection. It’s the one I’d grab when the zombie apocalypse comes, I’d leave the rest. It’s the one watch I don’t think I could do without. If you took this away I’d probably only have a smart watch. No Rolex, no vintage omega and no appreciation for the art of watch making. I’m sure I can’t be the only one who has one of these. Sorry about the photo it’s 5am I haven’t slept it’s the best I can do.

My dad gave this to me on my wedding day in the early 90's. I wear it once a year on my anniversary.

My first brand new watch, purchased from an AD. I will never sell it based on the personal reason I bought it.

My 55 year old Accutron 214. Received it as a gift from my late father in 1964. Wore it on our wedding day in 1966. Wore it to our son’s Christening in 1971. Wore it to our 50th wedding anniversary banquet in 2016. Looks and runs like new, even today. I’ve maintained it myself over all of these decades.

I have several of my dad's old watches. This one always looks and feels right, and reminds me of him the most. I can't imagine ever parting with it.

Right now it's the Speedy Pro I was gifted for my 40th, but thought I'd share this one. It's an Accurist Chrono/Alarm from about 1997 which I got for my 21st birthday, caseback engraved. I treasured and wore it for ten years before it gave up; turns out the parts for repair were no longer available. So it sat in a drawer for another ten years whilst I decided what to do with it. We had our garden landscaped in the spring. Right now, it's sitting in a time capsule underneath a concrete shed base and half a metre of soil. I like to think one day someone will find it. Stupidly I didn't take a picture of it before I buried it, but this one off the web is the closest likeness I can find...

I have a handful of speedys and a seamaster. The one that is most special is “the wife”. A 3570.50 my wife (then fiancée) gifted me 7 years ago. It is my beloved daily. 665ADDB2-166C-420E-8EAE-5F6FDE7AEA77.jpeg

This is my grandfathers watch that he left me.
I had it “restored” repainted dial and serviced long before I started collecting and realising the “value” of patina
I still love it and it’s the one watch i NEED to grab in a fire.

My least valuable watch in monetary terms but one I will never part with. This UG was bought from Bensons in London in the early 50’s, by my late father, and with remarkable foresight he bought my 21st birthday 105 003 65 from the same store in 1967.

this thread should have been titled: "Post Dad's Watch"

So.... here it is, the one that means the most. And Yup, it was Dad's. Mom bought it for Dad for Christmas 1955. Its the first watch I remember and the last one I'd give up.

My grandfather (mother’s side) got this Nivada for his 25 jubilee sometime in the 60’s at the bank where he worked. When he passed my father wore it until he passed two years ago.

My grandfather (father’s side) bougt this Omega around 1950/51 and wore it till he passed in 1980. Then my father wore it. So I have both my grandfathers watches which my father also wore. Quite nice. Here is the Omega along my my father’s military papers and his old dogtag.

This Speedy also means a lot to me. It was the first real and expensive watch I bought and it is from '85, my birthyear.

And finally my first Rolex (should never have started down that Road) and the one I will definitely never sell

Our wedding watches. I bought my wife-to-be and myself "matching" Omegas prior to the big day.

    IMG_0157.JPG

She didn't wear hers on the big day (apparently didn't match, pfft), but I did.

    IMG_0693.JPG

Other watches come and go, but these two will always stay.

I unfortunately don’t have any watches from my relatives, but I intend on remedying that with these two. The polar dial is for my daughter and the sub is for my son.

Idk really know why these are not that liked? Because they are to usual? Omega 2639 with cal 265. Going to change the crown and buy a nicer strap.

Anyway, my first Omega and I bought it as an reminder that I'm "in the end" (you know because omega in the Greek alphabet) of a addiction that is now over.
