DC Area Springtime OF GTG

I'm starting this thread to plan a DC area OF get together some time in 2022. I've tagged everyone who expressed interest in another thread where the subject came up (apologies if I missed anyone, and let me know if I've tagged you and you'd like to opt out).

@sleepyastronaut and I will work together to plan the event, and we'll be communicating details via private message to members who have expressed interest. I can pull together a survey to send to the group asking preferences around timing, location, etc. (let me know anything else you think I should include.)

At this time, we'll be limiting attendance to established members with 200 posts or more who are fully vaccinated (If a member has less than 200 posts, and an established member can vouch for them, we'll consider relaxing the 200 post rule on a case-by-case basis). Any members who are interested in attending but aren't tagged below, respond to this thread or send me a private message.

Note: I'm having surgery on Friday, so I'll likely pick this up in early 2022 after I've recovered and we're through the holiday season. But I wanted to get the ball rolling while the idea has momentum.

Cheers!

Glad we are making a thread for this rather than planning a party in Tom’s thread- seems kind of sadistic considering the context of the original post.
I’m in Baltimore if that puts a pin in the map for locations.

I would be interested in attending but do not have 200 posts on here yet. I have done transactions with multiple established members on here. Perhaps one will vouch for me.

Perhaps you can schedule a visit at the time we eventually set on a date

Yo tambian. I live on the opposite coast but would consider traveling, depending the date and circumstances.

Coincidentally, i was planning to fly to jfk and back today just to get enough miles to get my status bumped up on Delta. A $246 round trip ticket nonstop both ways between PDX and JFK! I canceled last minute because of omnicron, seeing as it's an unknown right now. I had my detective novels all loaded and was looking forward to it but I got the stink eye from the famfam. I have the booster but the rest do not. I did the rare unstubborn thing and realized they were right.

Hopefully things will be better in a few months. Hope you heal up quickly and can get some rest and recovery time.

Cheers,

Dave

I wonder if I can convince my wife to let me fly out from the west coast. I’d be curious to know what the plans are as a hopeful maybe.

You can give your old Sub a kiss in person Aaron.

I'll vouch for TheGreekPhysique. We have PM'd quite a bit over the past few months and I advised him on the eventual purchase of his very nice Speedmaster 3590.50 - which his wife will not let him play with until Christmas. Oh, the horror! 😀

I’m in - preference for DC location
Was thinking about that. I work in DC as well, but live 50mi north in Baltimore- I usually ride train in to work (when we went in regularly).
Somewhere near Union Station may be convenient for everyone if DC is preferred. Easy in from all points around, large parking garage for those who wish to drive plenty of dining (Irish Times or Dubliner anyone?). Just a thought

I'm in South Central PA and TheGreekPhyique is in the Lehigh Valley area. DC is a bit of a stretch for us - more so him than me - but the Baltimore area would be a bit easier for both of us.

Just proposed the idea to her and she said “I’d be going with you to have a day around the town while you’re at the get together”

Soo 👍

If she is planning to hit the Smithsonian’s, plan more like 3 days at least. You can spend a week and not hit them all

Will there be a no Speedy rule?
If you are tabulating, put me down for a "no Speedy" rule.
Will my vote count even if I can't make it?
