Yeah that's what's stopping me. 44mm with 24 mm strap is a pretty big watch even if I've got a sneaky suspicion that it's not actually bigger then an skx at 42mm at least in how it wears. Waiting to see on wrist from the 2 of you that ordered one. That movement at that price with what appears to be that quality is a pretty convincing deal.

Here's 1 from WUS as well.

BIG 馃槻, but beautiful. and for only two smackers...馃憤

I went ahead and ordered a 1963 SS bezel just like @watchdaddy1 's ...

I'm thinking the dial-only black look will appear smaller than the all-black look 馃...

If it's too big, then I know a couple of family members that might like this quartz beauty more than me 馃榿...

I like the look of the 1970 orange super compressor homage. Now, if they just made it with 12 hour rotating inner bezel, you'd have a nice dual time 3 hander 馃槈

This just arrived:

(please note that I forgot to push in the crown for these photos 馃檮)

I am more impressed than I thought I'd be about the Dan Henry 1963.

Some quick notes/observations:

What a beautifully done sandwich dial.. 馃グ

...and some real functionality here, too, with the split seconds sub-dial on the right. It also looks pretty cool to see that little hand rapidly spinning when the chronograph feature is activated.

The strap is of excellent quality, and the soft vintage leather goes really well with the watch, and is quite comfortable on wrist.

I was worried that this watch might feel/appear too large, but on the contrary. The silver bezel option I chose because I thought it would minimize its apparent size, and I think this is true. The watch is thin enough and the strap is soft enough that the feel on the wrist is more akin to a smaller watch; actually, not unlike wearing a Speedmaster!

On the negative side is the lack of a fully mechanical movement, and the 12-click bezel feels odd. The central chrono-seconds hand resets just shy (1/25 sec.) of 12, not blatantly obvious.

At $230 though, this is quite a watch... which only makes me wish even more that this beauty come with a mechanical movement!

Can you explain why the central second hand stops after awhile by itself? I'm baffled as to how or why & how long it does run b4 stopping @ the 12 o'clock position.

It looks good on-ya. Told you best bang for yr buck even better than some affordable Seiko's IMO

Looks like the split seconds runs for one minute (but still keeps track), but I don't know how long the central seconds runs before resetting at 12... mine's been going for 5 minutes now, and still hasn't reset...

Thanks! I think so too 馃榾.

Just looked at the quite beautifully-dialed 1947 again at https://danhenrywatch.com/products/1947?variant=20928247683 and I was hoping for a mechanical movement on that one... but, no, it's also quartz! 馃槻

I can understand that mechanical chronograph movements are quite a step up in price compared to the chrono-quartz, and thus the reason why it's in the 1963, but it wouldn't have added that much more to the cost of the 1947 for mechanical... and yet.... too bad!

I can understand that mechanical chronos are much more expensive, and thus the reason why it's in the 1963, but it wouldn't have added that much more to the cost of the 1947 to have a mechanical.... too bad!

I would still consider it - I like the dial! I'm just curious how it looks like in less professional shots.

As I understand it, it's the availability of a decent mechanical chronograph movement at a reasonable pricepoint for a low-volume manufacturer that is the problem. Seagull will not be considered 馃槈

Yes, right now, they don't exist...

I've seen micro-brands (e.g., Lew & Huey) use the Sea-Gull, but their reliability isn't quite up to the Swiss and German chronos, and even the supply of the Sea-Gull is fairly limited, I think...
