I'll share my thoughts/timelines... I dropped off my watch December 9, 2022, with an estimated wait time of four to six months (in Canada)

I received the watch back June 16, 2023... Unfortunately, the case tube was not installed correctly (or potentially the winding stem), but there was a 1.5mm gap between the crown and the case (the case is a Seamaster 300 (Spectre)). I sent it back to Omega, and received the watch July 7th. Unfortunately, there was debris (dust) on the dial, and under the sapphire crystal (looked like a metal shaving).

The case tube looks like the service center just pushed it back into the case, essentially not how it looked from the factory. I have sent the watch back for a third time, waiting on Omega to call me.

Overall, its been a challenge remaining positive, but I genuinely hope they can get it right this time.

That's the reason sometimes I prefer not to send back for servicing since straight bought from the shop has the best quality.

The thoughts of always having issues after serving can be daunting as well

Fair, but what do you do when the watch needs servicing? Do you go to an independent watch maker?

If really has issue, no choice have to go for servicing.

I'm referring to those who send for servicing after every 5 to 8 years when there is no apparent issue

Ahh, gotcha. Yes, unfortunately the watch was losing four seconds a day, and was slowly getting worse. It was a 2015 watch, so I figured it was time...

Was this the Toronto service centre? That’s where Omega sends its watches nationwide. Thanks for those insights.

I was thinking about sending my watch for warranty repairs (hour hand misalignment) but dust on the dial and other obvious signs of manipulation would be a dealbreaker for me.

It is. I sent my speedmaster there in 2021, and it was perfect. The rep I have been working with has been wonderful, just disheartening waiting for a watch for so long. If you are in Ontario, I would go to Archer!

Oh really? I fortunately had photos before I sent it, and there wasn't any dispute. Similar to you, the service was to be done in Ontario, but Swatch had to ship my watch to Switzerland for service. That was where the case tube (I'm assuming) was not installed correctly. The second service (correcting the case tube, but still not ideally done) was done in Ontario, where they introduced the dust and metal shaving...

Well thanks for those insights. Looks like I’m never sending my watch to the service centre unless the thing completely quits.

I had pictures and everything. They sent me the pictures they took and it showed no damage when it arrived. So they are replacing things but why would the tech just say hey i slipped and scratched your watch we are going to fit it before we send it out.

So a little update on my Seamaster that was damaged. Omega did a one time fix. They replaced the case back and polished the case and bracelet for me. I just received it back today and its perfect. just sad how long it took and for the hoops i had to jump through to get them to fix it.

Update on my service saga:

December 9, 2022 - watch sent for a service.
June 16, 2023 - Case tube installed incorrectly
July 6, 2023 - Dust on the crystal and dial
July 29, 2023 - Scratched bezel
September 2, 2023 - Scratched lug.

I'm so exhausted.

I sent my CK 859 in on 2/8/24 for a warranty repair. It arrived back to me after a complete service on 4/6/24. Turn around time from shipping to receiving back: 58 days. Not too bad, Omega!

An update in which nothing is updated (re my Rio Seamaster currently out for official service): the AD called to say the watch has been received but there’s no estimate/date as “Omega’s system is currently down and isn’t expected to be fully operational again until after the 22nd.”

Just FYI.

I wouldn't send to the US service center at the present time.
Why not? Canada service centre is about a 6 week wait for warranty service.

After a recent experience with a local Omega-certified watchmaker, I will only be using an official Omega service center in the future.
