Current service turnaround time?

Feel like it’s been a minute since we had an update on this score: anyone have a bead on how long Omega/SWATCH is taking to perform a basic movement service these days?

I’ve currently got a quartz Hamilton in (also a SWATCH brand) for a really simple operation: just replacing a cracked ceramic bezel. I sent it on March 17th and it’s still there—it’s progressed from inspection to parts ordering to work in progress. Not in a rush and not complaining but am sort of surprised by how long it’s taking and am wondering if a movement job is still like 10-12 weeks as it was during covid—assuming that the wait times for Omega and Hamilton would be more or less the same-?

I sent in my Speedmaster Gemini 4 on March 13 for a full service at the Peace Hotel OB in Shanghai and I was notified on April 19 last week that it was ready. A total of 5 weeks and 2 days.

When inquiring about repairs to the Speedmaster after dropping it not once, but twice within 30 days, I was told by the Omega Boutique in the North Park Mall in Dallas, Texas that it would take nine months because my 1985 vintage Speedmaster was too old to accept for repairs stateside. This was in September 2022. At that time we were planning to visit the Omega factory and museum in Biel in November so I thought I'd inquire there.

The factory boutique advised me that it would take up to a year when I inquired.

My good ol' regular watchmaker fixed me right up and the Speedmaster is ticking merrily.

Yeah, I’d figure on longer bench-times for vintage.

Hah!

I'll have you know that 1985 does not register as "vintage" in my vintage pea-brain. Our youngest son was born in 1985.

All things age differently. My wife is older than my oldest watch—if I called her “vintage,” I’m pretty sure I’d find the watches crushed under a tire.

Ooo... you might want to avoid using "vintage" as a descriptive term around her.

I tried to comfort Mrs. noelekal as she bemourned her upcoming 40th birthday by telling her: "That's ok. I like old stuff."

Wrong response.

Update: the Hamilton is getting delivered today, so total turnaround was 7 weeks. Worth reiterating: this wasn't a movement service or a refinishing job---just replacing a ceramic bezel. (I'm guessing they wouldn't return the watch without pressure-testing it as a matter of policy.)

No idea how this bears on the turnaround time for Omega movement services, but it's a data-point of some kind.

I recently sent my Seamaster Aqua Terra to the Omega Boutique on Collins Street, Melbourne, Australia, for a warranty service to replace a defective hour hand and clasp. Sent the watch in on 16th Feb and got it back on 5th April, so almost 7 week turnaround time. The job sheet indicated that the watch received a full service whilst with them so I'm pretty happy with that. Previous experience with Swatch service centre pre Covid for a Seamaster Pro had a similar turnaround time. Hope this is useful info.

Still slow, but an improvement over last year, judging by previous reports.
