It’s not a victimless crime when the next watch strap you buy is counterfeit or the next watch you buy has counterfeit parts. And you are fleeced of your well earned $$s

/

i definitely have a problem with that. once there is misrepresentation and fraud it becomes a serious crime.

what i don't have a problem with is policing or worrying about rep goods made for people that know they're rep goods and actively seek out to buy those goods. 1000's of these transactions happen everyday throughout the world. and sorry to say,.. most of those transaction aren't funding the taliban.

So as long as it doesn't affect you personally, you are okay with it. Good to know where you stand...

I've always thought a lot of this has to do with product market fit.

Like, the GMT, Daytona, and Sub (well, maybe not the Maxi case but still) are the winners in the line up. And no surprise there - they stay true to their roots. But so so many models in the Rolex catalog kind of, you know, suck?

People disagree with me about this, but if you take http://www.markcho.com/201905-the-ideal-watch-size-survey-report at face value, it's pretty obvious that a lot of people are not happy with current models and their dimensions.

So, is it any surprise that the really good watches in the catalog have crazy demand? Why not just make all the models in the catalog that good.

i tell ya what. plz take your issues with rep goods and the people hawking them and bring them to the attention of the nyc police..they will laugh at you. or lol @ you when u leave. or you can try to bring these people to justice by making a citizens arrest. let me know how the latter works out for you.

don't forget to tell them each purchase is funding the taliban or a war against america.

and lol at all of this. i would be willing to bet any amount of money that everyone here either bought, or knew somebody that knowing bought any rep product at sometime during their lifetime...yes,..that's how long this industry has been going on.

I see King Canute is still trying to hold back the tide of fake watches reaching the shores of the USA, kinda like a broken pencil if you ask me.

Anyone who uses the term Replica is closer to the fake world than they care to admit.

Actually the world of "Reps" is pretty enormous and quite a significant part of their world is the building of watches which feature a mix of fake and oem parts to create Frankenwatches.

Obviously there are also a huge amount of dreamers trying to con people that they have the personal wealth to run with multiple Rolex or even Richard Mille!!

Many suggest that they own a "replica" Rolex to wear out in the evening minimising the risk of suffering a loss through mugging or theft/damage whilst the genuine equivalent sits safely at home in the safe 😗 Personally I use Seiko's for this role, but not my MM300 obviously!!

Yes fakes have been around for a very long time. At one time when the US watch industry was king, the Swiss made fakes of US pocket watches. The fact it has been going on for a long time doesn't make it right or make it harmless as you keep saying.

I'm not about to approach the NYC police (why would I since I don't live in the US), but what I won't do is condone fakes repeatedly as you are doing, and calling it a victimless crime. I'm sure you and your "peeps" are okay with this sort of thing, but that is a reflection of your ethics.

I have been in the unfortunate and uncomfortable position of telling someone who has spent a lot of money on a watch that it was a fake, not knowing that what they bought was a fake. I can tell you it's not fun giving that news and I'm sure a lot less fun receiving it. When someone finds out they have been scammed for thousands of dollars, and you keep saying that "no one should have an issue with it" well sorry but that's not going to fly...

cmon...quit spinning this and acting if as if i think it's okay for anybody to get ripped off buy a rep sold as genuine.

that's 100% untrue not not anything i said. i made that clear.

and this has nothing to do with my morals which you also want to bring into the equation as well

i tell you something else. the peeps in that vid were

a- a black man
b -multiple asian women
c- an indian man.

basically all of what nyc has to offer. and they don't come to people looking to sell, people come to them to buy, and they know what they're buying.

none of these people are funding a war on a america with a 50 dolla rolex or 30 dollar gucci on the streets on nyc

The people that make the watches are the ones funding terrorism - they find patsies to sell their goods, so those people who actually sell the watches still indirectly fund terrorism, even if they use the profits to feed their family. That doesn't make it right.

The mere existence of fake watches, even if sold to people who know it is fake, allows them over time to also filter into the sales market of watches that are thought to be legitimate but are not. Those fake watches do get into the wild and are used to scam people.

You cannot and won't convince us that it is a victimless crime.
We've furnished the proof already, and NOT ONCE have you addressed the proof. Just be a big boy and admit we might be right.

Well, this is what you said:

i have no problem with anyone buying one and nobody else should either.

The 30 or 50 "dolla" fakes you keep talking about are obvious, but there are lots of very good fakes out there that fool people regularly.

Is there anything wrong with buying from Jomashop (Grey Market) or DavidSW. If I absolutely had to have a 116610LN I would definitely not go to the AD and wait a year or two. I bought my 216570 in 2016 from DavidSW and multiple Omegas from Jomashop and watchMaxx.

Larry, where do you think these fake watches are produced?

most of these rep goods are made in china and available for anyone that has money to buy them. from hermes and louis v bags..to sneakers.

if it's associated with luxury and expensive there will always be knock offs varying of quality made by many...and there will always be peeps buying them. not to mention cavalier attitudes by authorities and by the police something to they cannot stop.

of course there will always be the possibility of people using these products to scam people. and of course once this happens authorities do care about that type of crime.

I physically squint when reading your posts to try and help me understand a) what on earth you're talking about, then (once I think I've figured it out) b) to help me try and decide whether you're just trolling or actually believe the utter dross you're writing.

I'll bear that in mind and will commit to trying to make an effort to understand your juvenile ramblings, lest I miss out on some important nuggets of information.

If that's the case how can you make the statement below?
