·Exclusivity is not just the number of units made, it's also based on how many people worldwide want the product, price, and how it is viewed. And please don't try to equate a fake Rolex as somehow being legitimate because people prance around with them on their wrists. Fake is fake. One million authentic Rolex's and 5 million fake ones does NOT mean there are 6 million Rolex's on peoples wrists.

Not when you can’t tell the difference. And Rolex is the most faked watch brand out there. And they are getting pretty good at it.
I have no doubt many are buying the fakes even when they can aford the real thing, in part because it’s not available. That’s life

·I’ve read this and similar threads/posts upon the shortage of SS Rolex models, various theories for this, AD and grey market practices of price inflations and/or enticements just to be added to lengthily (years) waiting lists and where the goal posts then move when you do get the elusive call.
Similarly combined I’ve read of the scoffing and arrogance of Rolex and AD sales assistants whom themselves have no actual stake in the either Rolex and or little to no stake in the store which employees them.
I admit I take a very simplistic end user view upon this, (and likewise one that has been put by others before) when I say ‘vote with your feet’. - Go elsewhere where stock, equal or better quality products and actual customer service is available. I’m not going to get into brand vs brand, this is subjective but personally there is not a great deal I like or desire in the Rolex range (or just its heightened status and resale value branding) which would encourage me to partake in these practices.
I simply don’t understand why people are willing to accept and put up with these ‘deficiencies’ If I were to go to a Rolex or AD store and see just empty cases or a model with a label ‘for display purposes only’ and to then discuss this with a sales assistant who laughs at me, and who may or may not offer to but me on a waiting list dependent upon my (potentially unknown) previous purchase histories, or their mood that day.
It’s simply not worth the application of my patronage, I instead see this and their practices as an embarrassment, a failing and deficiency of the brand, store and sales (brand/store) representative. As such IMO the mindset should not be to accept and engage in this but rather to reverse it, whereby the joke and laugh is/should be on Rolex for not being able to meet the basic business demand for what remains a mass produced product, regardless of what one theorises or believes the reasoning for this. Regarding the AD’s they appear to have little to no power of AD influence but choose to act as AD’s despite the embarrassing failings and deficiencies which Rolex bestows upon them as ‘supposed’ AD providers and potentially to the detriment of their wider store business as result.

·I would take a Zenith or a Jaeger chrono any day over a Daytona- even if the Daytona were $5k and the Z or J $10k, I just don’t get the appeal. The sub and DJ are iconic watches but that ended when they beefed them up- totally changed the character of the watches. The 5 digit subs are a bargain and plentiful on the used market- no waiting!

As the video states, how does the fake watch make you feel? If you are fine with the fake than paying 10% of a real product might make sense. Whether people are buying fake Daytonas because the real ones aren't available at MSRP is unknown. Real ones are readily available to anyone who will pay the market price, but many people balk at that. I don't know why, the market sets the real price, not Rolex.

·So I wanted to try one of these maxi case SubC’s but my local AD said I’d need to wait a couple of years to even get a chance of looking at one.
I thought “sod that!” and I bought a £120 fake Hulk that looked 99% like the real deal, ok it was only running at 21600bpm and not 28800bpm. Hey but the waiter at my local curry house now thinks I’m minted.
After a couple of weeks of ownership I decided that I really don’t like the fat case, it’s grossly over proportioned and I’d much prefer a 5 digit sub. So I flipped the fake, losing £10 in the process.
Does this make me a bad person?
I mean fakes fund organized crime and terror organizations......so maybe not do it in the future?
Just brutal honesty here, I’m not saying you are a bad person or anything (obviously)....but there is a 100% link
