great watch IMHO, one of the seamaster case design I like the most.

Thanks. I only explored these series of references once I found this watch. The look and the size are perfect in my opinion. I'll clean the watch, do some proper photos and maybe open up a new thread. If I end up buying it, which I'm like 95% sure now 馃榾

If you like the watch, I don't think that the asking price is crazy. I like the circular brushing on the dial, it's different and an interesting look.

FWIW, I think you would have gotten more substantial feedback with more photos. I am sensing that the case may be in very good condition, but can't really judge. And that would be a major determinant of value.

Unfortunately I only got to see the watch today. But you're right; I still have the watch and it's not too late to decide against it if you see any big problems on it.

It's not my favorite reference, but even so I'd try to buy it, just based on the condition. The case is very strong for a gold watch.

Thanks. That's some strong reassurance.

The price is good, considering the model and the condition. I'd go for it.

The initial photos were enough for me to tell the case is sharp. But a closer look I am seeing the missing material on the indices (lume or black paint on this one?). Still a nice piece though.

That is a nice watch. (My earlier comment that it was gold plated was based on the strangely accented images originally posted, and obviously that has been cleared up by the good images you have now posted).
I like the sharp edges - they are so hard to find in vintage solid gold watches especially on the back. Good catch.

Tried the lume and it shines very briefly on the lume spots (behind the indices) and hands. I believe it's black paint on the indices. It's a bummer the paint has worn out, but what can one do.

Thanks. It fooled me too; the crappy photos really made the back look like stainless steel.

That's a nice one and the price is not bad either. Any 18k Constellation would take you to 2500+ and these Semaster cases are much heavier and thicker.

I have two of these in steel and I absolutely love them, especially the one with circular brushed dial like yours. Imho they are undervalued in general.

I believe that not many of these in solid gold were sold. Go for it and don't look back.

While I love the C-shape Constellations, these Seamasters wear better on bigger wrists. Nonetheless, a 168.027 is in my todo list.

Your watch is a thing of beauty. Sparkle dial and bracelet; exactly the watch I'd like to have.

I decided to buy the watch. Wouldn't have taken the chance of getting it without your feedback and your reassurance on its authenticity and condition. Such a great community. Thank you all.

Just for reference, in case someone gets a similar model and wonders what's the weight in gold. I didn't remove the plexi, as I don't have yet the tools. Total weight (including crystal) is 39.67 grams. The crystal should be ~2.2 grams, at least from measuring another crystal of similar size. With the tension ring, it shouldn't weight more than 3 grams. I would say that a good guesstimate is 36 grams of 18k gold.

Edit on 24 Nov 2023: This information is incorrect. Please check a follow up post for the actual weight: https://omegaforums.net/threads/considering-this-18k-seamaster-168-022.165395/page-3#post-2264696

Congrats, you made a right decision !!
Wow, did not expect so much gold in it, but indeed, the case is big and fat, awsome. Enjoy!!

Did you remove the movement and dial before weighing the watch? If not, you probably need to subtract about 15 or so grams, I would think.

That brings you to 20 grams X 75% X $62.57 = $938.55 melt value. Let's call it $1,000 or so.

Thanks. The more I look at the watch, the happier it makes me. I would have guessed it has ~30 grams of gold, so those extra grams were a nice surprise.

Hmm, of course I did. I know I'm knew to this, but not that incompetent 馃榾

Just the back case alone is like 10 grams, and the case itself is decently thick. So, using your calculation: 36 x 75% x $62.57 = $1,689.

I may be off by 1 or 2 grams. The crystal may be thicker and heavier, and not really sure how heavy the tension ring is. I just extracted 3.67 grams from the 39.67 total I got, thinking that should cover it.

Fair enough.

Maybe I鈥檝e seen one too many eBay listings showing a complete gold watch on a scale.
