路Hi everyone, I'm looking at this deluxe 2853 - not as a collector's piece, but as something I can feel alright wearing relatively often. In saying that, I don't want a beater either. I'm still training my eye for these things, so would appreciate some second opinions.
Firstly, is this a redial? Everything looks pretty good to me except the 'c' in 'automatic' and the 'o' in 'officially' look a little suspect. However, there are minute indicators missing/half gone which would indicate that it hasn't been repainted. And of course the seller says it's original 馃榾. This watch dates to 1958, (don't want to offend the Omega purists, just wanting some insight here) was it possible that quality controls were a little more loose then, and this weird 'c' could make it through? Or is the 'c' not weird at all?
Secondly, does the movement look tired, and are the 505s as reliable as the more notorious 5xx calibres? I wasn't expecting to be looking at a watch of this reference so don't know too much about the movement.
Pics below! Thanks as usual for the valuable insight.
