As long as we are back on this watch again. Does anyone know what watch this Lemania is likely actually out off? It has differences from any early Speedy 321 I have seen before in 2915 through 2998. For example the minute wheel jumper lever is a combined jumper lever/spring. Even the 321 engraving is suspect. Perhaps Archer will comment on it.

Sorry just seeing this request for my input now....yes that's certainly not what a Cal. 321 looks like:

Should be a post coming up off the plate that the 2 pieces of the minute counter jumper mount to, and the spring is a separate piece. Then there is an eccentric to adjust the jumper that is not present on this watch. Not sure what it is, but it's not correct.

Cheers, Al

There are many chronographs that use that kind of jumper, I not aware that any are Lemania, but I haven't really searched for it or anything.

There are some other parts on that movement that look a little off as well, so it's been put together from various parts I think.

This is a total scam. As in, you won't even get anything for your money. A respectable member on this forum was scammed approximately a year ago, this very watch was listed in a similar setting for sale out of NY. I am unfamiliar with the entire details of the transaction, but the seller agreed to a final sales price of $7K, took his money, and then disappeared into the shadows from which he came. I contacted this member, he confirmed this is the same setup/scam, and he's since reported this to eBay.

The common threads were this:
[1] Seller posts this CK2915 and acts like he doesn't really know what he has, besides an Omega Speedmaster of some sort that's old.
[2] Seller asks a lot of money (thousands), but what he's asking is worth WELL less than fair market value.
[3] Seller responds to potential buyer inquiry, and invites him to make a transaction off eBay.

***Also note in the description, the seller repeatedly wants a prospective buyer to make contact with him. First offering his number in case of any questions (reasonable), but then also saying stuff like "if you wish to bid you must contact us so that we don't cancel your bid." Note also that this is listed as an auction, yet the description says "price reduced to accept serious final offers." Again - the seller is fishing for contact.

Last time around, the seller claimed to be operating a small watch/jewerly business in NY with his brother if I remember right. This watch also popped up once last fall, and other respectable member caught it and reported it.

BUT - this thread is great because we're also having a good technical discussion on the hardware as well. Keep it coming!!

Well as the member who admits to being scammed - I have a nasty feeling there are more - I can tell you that at the time I was fooled by the feedback. I have made many, many purchases using direct transfer and this one slipped past my radar. With hindsight it wouldn't catch me again. Something else might!

My mistake was not to talk direct to the vendor before sending the money - and to allow the sending of the money to go to an account that didn't make sense: Wrong state, funny name....G&W Foods !

The scammers get hold of an Ebay ID and change the name, then build up some (fake) watch feedback that looks fantastic, going back several months, showing expensive watch details.

I am sure that ebay and US law enforcement could identify these people, but Ebay was spectacularly unhelpful to me.

This is about the third or fourth time this watch has been shown by different sellers.

The scammers also only sell to outside US buyers.

It was a painful experience, but I put it down to experience. There is, (as ebay repeatedly made clear) nothing I can do, except tell everyone what happened in the hope that there are fewer people who they catch.

Thanks Spacefruit for sharing in here.
I have been encountered 4 scamming in the past 6 months, 2 from eBay........2 from our forum. Gladly in all cases experienced member in here helped me out of hook before too late.
I think it is advisable for anyone who transact more than 1K to have one or two other trusted member 'supervising' the steps just as reminder and 'cold shower' during heated deal pressure.
Just my 2 cents.

At that price, are you surprised?

I think you might mean the price is too low for a 2915-1 speedmaster (which in this case is a poor, poor example of a watch). The real deal 2915-1 speedmasters (with all correct parts) should fetch a higher price.

This auction started at 7000 which was of course cheap. Most auctions start low. I expected it to be bid up higher, which if it had been genuine it would no doubt have been. As indeed it was a few months ago on eBay in the case of a genuine 2915 in NZ, which was in good to fair condition, and missing its bezel. It went for about $18,000. And yes it was delivered. (Not to me!)

The perpetrators ended the auction early when they had a bidder registered outside the US. And don't forget they had many watches on at the same time. They ran two types of auction. One was like this, intended to defraud with a high opening bid.

The other was cover. These (non existent, of course) lots were desirable watches with a very low start, so there were huge numbers of bids. These auctions were later cancelled using the "no longer available" option before completion. It gave the illusion of an active, trustworthy dealer. Or they completed these purchases themselves using more fake accounts, and giving feedback.

Its easy with hindsight to say it was obvious. Really easy. Even I can see it.

these fraudsters are diligent, dishonest, committed, practiced and to an extent evil. I am just not used to dealing people like that. I hope not many of us are. They are running a sophisticated well planned scam, and eBay are absolutely not interested.

Wow, this is so interesting (and sad, for those who are burned). At first glance, the seller's feedback looks legit, but if you read the comments, they all sound like they're trying too hard to indicate that this is a good seller:

A stunning watch from a "Cream Of The Crop" eBay seller. Highly recommended!
it is great, good business man, I enjoy the watch
Spectacular watch. Cannot find a more honest person. Will buy again from Gary.
this guy is amazing-price, communication, speed and quality all=top notch!
And my favorite:
Excellent experience. No hesitation to buy another high value item

I checked out the other feedback left by the "Spectacular watch. Cannot find a more honest person. Will buy again from Gary." buyer, and all of the feedback he's left on other auctions is the same "Just as Described & Shipped Super Fast, TY". This is the only auction he's left feedback on that strays from that script. It looks like the seller here is hijacking peoples eBay accounts to leave positive feedback on his account to build the story.

So, does this watch belong to you after you won an auction, and now they are selling it again to someone else and never shipped to you?

As it is well known to an old Omega watchmaker, it comes from a 27-CHRO-12:
